You are 100% correct which is why it's vital that we have a good plan to bring in a good athletic SF in 2015 and a good back-up PG.

I agree with this, that it should be a team rebounding effort........

But....

Chris Bosh got 11 boards.....

Dwight had 9 boards......

Not to mention....D12 had count em....FOUR rebounds through 3 quarters. FOUR!

Bosh is more mobile then Howard no doubt about it, has a better jump-shots know's how to use his offensive abilities UNLIKE HOWARD and knows when to attack the basket.

Howard should go to ATL and become the man over their.... we do not want a overrated chump leading this franchise.

i commented on this a couple weeks ago, but i heard worthy was discussing it after today's game: dwight isn't setting screens on the ball. guy never makes contact with the defender, and the play is doomed from the start. for all the talk about how soft gasol is, at least he understands that the pick and roll doesn't work when you don't put a body on the first guy. it's kinda the point, and i'm sure dwight had to have done this right in orlando to have such great efficiency on that play.

Dwight is a superstar in name only. Blame it on injuries if you want, but he just isn't showing enough on the court. I hope he does, but we've seen enough already this season to know the truth: We've got a player who made hay being a physical freak, who is not a physical freak any longer. Case closed, ship him out

I want the best defensive player in the league on this roster for the future. Whether he is to lead or nt is irrelevant because the lakers will bring someone else in to pair with Dwight.

You don't just give up elite talents because they performed below their own standards post major surgery. Ridiculous. the lakers actually look past one post injury season, that's why they wont trade him.

Dwight will improve as he heals completely. We just need a better coach that will utilize him better.

Fair enough. I just think the emperor has no clothes. And that's nice that you don't care if Dwight leads or not, but I believe that is still a relevant issue for HIM. He wants to be the man

Leading and being the man arent always the same thing. Kobe has been the man since 2004-2005. Unquestioned. But the leader during the 3 finals appearances? I'd argue it was Derrick fisher.

As long as Dwight is healthy and performing at his level I honestly don't care who leads. I just care about having a better coach with better performance as a roster going forward

Interesting question.....David Lee does it with fitting into a system and with constant effort and no drama...... Is he a max player?

Dwight may bring more defense but the distraction is not worth it IMO under the new CBA.... A team can really afford just one max deal and put a complete team on the floor. I'd spend a max slot elsewhere

At 75% with his back and less than that with his shoulder, are you expecting Prime Shaq numbers? I'm not saying he's the man to lead a team to a championship. He needs another elite player with him. But other than LBJ, who else is good enough to lead a team to a championship by themselves? Durant looks pretty damn good...with Westbrook at his side.

Where is this percentage coming from? I'm tired of hearing about it. If he isn't right, fine - shut it down, or shut up and find a way to fit into the system. And don't get in STEVE NASH's face about not feeding you. You can't have it both ways.

I don't care if Dwight's back is 15% or 115%, I don't see good things out of him in terms of attitude and will. And his offensive game is trash. The points he gets come from being fed with deep position or putbacks. I don't buy him, at any percentage of health.

Yes but thats entirely dependent on what the doctors have told the lakers front office. If they tell them he'll be back to 100% or very close then yes he's a 20 and 10 guy. If they tell me it's a gamble then I think twice about it

Injuries are tricky. Remember the difference between Bynum 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. A full offseason to train and practice basketball makes the world of difference

Rehab only gets you to status quo. Dwight strength wise is at about his 3rd year in the league on top of not being able to jump as high right now

A full offseason of lifting and basketball should change that. If doctors say it won't then they may look elsewhere. This was supposed to be a process from day 1, the question is how much of a process was it supposed to be. Only the lakers and Dwight know

75% is a number Dwight himself threw out there, not sure I even believe him. Also, Durant is good next to Westbrook? Be serious, he's good period, that's a bad comparison. And ok we'll go with that, what's Dwight's excuse for not looking good next to Kobe, who is better than Westbrook? Dwight's not alike, Kobe IS elite, and Dwight looks bad with him. In fact Dwight has never played with an elite guy next to him, and if this is the best example of that it's a a disaster, Kobe is an all time great, you can't really ask for a more elite guy next to him. That's not even mentioning Nash, one of the best passers of all time, you can't play your best next to those 2, I don't want you as my guy going forward. Apparently Dwight can only do well surrounded by shooters and a PG to spoon feed him.

but where? not many guys are leaving their franchises, and nobody better than dwight is projected to do so in the next few years. i'd pay max for dwight, even this version, and then i'd rebuild to his strengths.

it would be different if say, lebron, were a viable option. or even kyrie irving. but kevin love? josh smith? these guys are guys that will fetch high dollar salaries and are likely to change teams. 70% dwight is worth more than them, imo. but again, the lakers have to commit to playing to his strengths. they haven't done that yet.

and like i've said many times: he needs to start holding up his end of the bargain before he squawks about anything.

Look at our situation..... We're going to have nobody under contract in a year and a half..... If "max" Howard and sign a few good players to fill in around him there isn't going to be enough left to sign another leader or star....

Remember that in 14 we will go under the cap..... And the best we can do is go a mid-level above it......or about 30 million below our current level. The only way to keep a team of stars out there is to trade for them or draft them......that's why not trading Pau could have long lasting ramifications for us.
