What's up with you and the borderline trolling posts in the last few pages of this thread? Dwight has been fairly inconsistent in his performances by his own admission. Don't you think it's acceptable to discuss our concerns about that inconsistency?

What inconsistency? He just had 14reb & 4 blocks last night with a re-aggravated shoulder.

What inconsistency? He just had 14reb & 4 blocks last night with a re-aggravated shoulder.

I am not concerned with his game last night except for the FTs. But I'm not sure why you would be wondering about his inconsistent performances when he has recently come out and identified them that way himself.

I wasn't intending to troll. That post was completely an observation. The Inconsistency of the opinions in this thread outdo Howard's inconsistency

He had 4 goaltends too which pissed me off more than the free throws. Just saw the video that Cachooka posted wow how can you missed so many free throws in a row without making a single adjustment. Yikes man

Seriously? Wow, Dwight's like the new Kobe, you can't criticize his play without a bunch of people getting upset, only Dwight did nothing to earn people's benefit of the doubt and trust.

He shouldn't have challenged the obvious 1 right after McGee blocked his shot on the other end.. That was obviously pure frustration on Dwight's part, he knew he was too late & swatted it anyways.

That kind of comes with the territory of being a max-player, superstar, and supposedly top 10 talent in the league. IMO, 14 points is not quote getting the job done.

Turnovers and defense were the main issues last night, but you can't tell me that if Dwight hit EVEN 5 MORE (which would have been 58% from FT) it would not have made a difference? There were times when we cut the lead to 8....with a handful more FT's it would have been 3.

Momentum is key in basketball and Dwight definitely didn't boost it last night. But he is not alone.

He needs to step away from the line and take a second if he's missing FTs durnig a game. Gotta calm down and get back in rhythm. Frustrating to watch a Pro do this.

Goaltends? Yeah, he should lay off the obvious ones, but anything close, i dont mind the gamble

He should just stand a foot behind the free throw line... he'd swish all his shots.

well logically one would simply watch what he does the next time and see the results. If they are the exact same then it is pretty safe to assume there was no adjustment made. Seeing as all of his free throws hit the back of the rim at the same arc from the same spot on the line then it is safe to say he did not make an adjustment.

Of courseit is understandable since he seems to be set on this new form and arc of his shot over the past few weeks.

but be judicious about it, hes goaltending Timofey Mozgov and McGee throwing up 8 foot hooks if it falls it falls they aint gonna score 15-20 on you, why try to challenge something thats in the air already vs players who hae little to no touch in the post

I think Dwight is sort of coming to the realization he cant be relied on in the road games to score points, his defensive intensity is still there. At home 18.4 points/gm on 61% FG, on the road 13.9 while shooting 52%

I doubt its as easy as you make it sound, DJ/Mcgee and Howard are the type of athletic bigs who will attempt to block anything, obvious or not. Being judicious will only lead him to challenging even less shots in the long run of over being cautious.

^ I dont have problems with him altering shots but you gotta pick your spots if Koufos and McGee wanna try to score in the post so be it lets see how many times they're successful, these guys have no touch around the rim at all

The blocked shot dilemma......

Blocks are a very overrated thing IMO. Players relinquish position chasing 15 shots a game to get 2.5 blocks (if they are good at it). Of those 2.5 blocks over 1/2 go back to the team that shot the ball so about 1 is an effective defense. The motion to the shooter requires the rest of the team to know when and where to rotate and if there is no discipline by the shot blocker he can create more problems than he solves.

Offensive rebounds, and easy put-backs often are the result of missed blocked shots or even partially blocked ones. It also results in scrambling defenses that leave the perimeter to cover for the interior helping.

The players that can block and control shots without having to move a great distance or jump are the best interior defenders IMO. Guys like Mark Eaton, Dikembe Mutombo and Kareem were able to block shots without creating huge holes in the defense if they weren't successful. Howard and Ibake chase shots everywhere and usually leave their man to do it regardless of the defensive scheme.

Last night, for example, Karl put Howard on the weak side in isolation and used the off forward for the pick and roll. Howard would rotate to try and block the shot of the guard in the lane but because of the offensive set when he left his man there was no one else on that side of the court to rotate to McGee the other Denver bigs. They scored several buckets off offensive rebounds and put-backs because of it.

Howard is a very good overall defensive player but he does tend to chase shots and our lack of defensive recognition and/or philosophy gets us in trouble more than not in those situations and a good coach can exploit it with the right personnel.

^^Bynum has incredible length.... Howard has to jump a foot to get his hand to where Andrew's is flat footed.... That's a huge head start on altering shots.

Bynum had some very effective stretches altering and blocking shots..... followed by stretches of not much success.

Howard's knees, Bynum's body and post game and Duncan's smarts and we'd be set.....
