The old adage is it's better to drop a player one year too early then a year too late. Lakers dropped Bynum at the PERFECT time. Let it go because I am sure Bynum has. He will be in the league another 2 or 3 years and he will be gone. If he lasts that long anyway.

Um.... Hey lets go ahead and reconsider WIlliam Parker while we are at it
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Yes, in a heartbeat. And even if Dwight does come back I'd make an offer.

For the minimum? That's the only way I'd bring him back, one year minimum deal as a backup.

I'd go a bit above the minimum, honestly. Nothing crazy, but he's a "stash and hope" guy.

I don't think we have money to waste under this new CBA on guys that may or may not ever play again. In the old NBA, sure, but under this cap, I give him a 1 year minimum to prove himself and nothing more. Some team out there is gonna give him way more than that based on his potential to come back, and really, really regret it.

I doubt the Lakers would take a run at him knowing what has happened this past season regarding his knees. Agree with Weez that another team with more flexibility will likely try to sign him.

If Dwight leaves we still don't have cap space.. Which would mean Drew is coming back for the minimum or mini mle.. Yes I'd take that even if Dwight stays.. You'd be a fool not to. If he played at all we'd be able to get great value for him in a trade (again).

No for anything above minimum. It's on him to show he can get healthy and stay healthy. Otherwise fuhgeddaboutit!

Some other team will take a chance and overpay. Good luck with that...
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Some team will give him a chance at 10+ million. There simply aren't very many big men in the league that actually have post moves anymore... he's a rare commodity. So, not coming back here. We don't want to risk anything with this guy, his knees are shot.
