D12 Discussion: Dwightmare over! (1139)

I'm hearing a lot of conflicting information on realistic recover times for this injury. Some even saying surgery is sometimes required.

Anyone know anything from a reliable source? Any docs in the house? :man10:

my most reliable source....

Howard (shoulder) indicated his labrum is not really torn, but rather the bone has separated from the labrum, the Orange County Register reports. He indicated that he's being rested to avoid aggravating the injury. "[The injury will be] gauged in a week to see where my pain level is. If there's any pain, hopefully I can play. I'm going to continue to do the rehab and strengthen my shoulder. I have a lot of strength in it now, but like I said, they want to be super cautious nothing bad happens."

that's straight from my NBA fantasy report lol

Small chance Dwight Howard (shoulder) plays tomorrow vs. CLE. Right now he's out but will be evaluated again before game. #Lakers

Varejao is out D12. You gotta play. We gotta win one. It's been ages since we had a W.

even having him just stand out there would help us win. he doesnt have to do any really intense things other than body up, put his hands up, and layup the open shot.

hope he plays...we need him. him next to clark would be pretty cool to see and space the floor for him well. then jamison can come in and sacre and let nash do what he did with jamison against okc. you do that against okc and you can do it against any team bc if they stop that theyre opening another door for us to score.

We already lost against them -- and they dropped 100 on us.

I rather he rests. What good is him coming back, anyway? It's not like this is turning into a title contender anytime this season. Might as well rest up and come back at 100%, and get into a good flow for our next season.

yeah 10 days my a**

the lakers medical staff is absolutely horrible at predicting the return timetables of these injuries. i remember how bynum was supposed to miss "a few weeks" which turned into the whole season in '08 and then nash this season who took 2 months to return when it was supposed to be "one week"

i lost trust in the lakers medical staff years ago

I suppose the Laker's medical staff are so busy working with all these injuries that they forgot that 1 week meant 7 days, they are terrible are giving out return dates.

Let's not forget the "ankles" of Mihm and Walton..... both were "moderate" sprains initially....

Mike Trudell @LakersReporter about 6 minutes ago
Pau Gasol (concussion) will not play tonight. Dwight Howard (shoulder) will be re-evaluated before the game tonight.

So there’s a possibility that Howard could return tonight, but we won’t know until pregame at Staples. Gasol will be tested again tomorrow.

^^ Pau STILL not playing? When Kobe got that concussion last year he didn't miss ONE game right? This is gonna be Pau's 4th missed game? Hopefully there's more to it than this, hopefully we're close to trading him

True but Pau got cracked a lot harder than Kobe. I could never even figure how he got a concussion from D Bleep's downward swipe that got his nose. Obviously he did but not with the force Pau got cracked. But yeah it is frustrating. I don't think he is jaking it though.

Again, when the Lakers need Gasol MOST this season -- when they were thin and having a tough stretch -- Gasol has been out. First time he CHOSE to sit (after Kobe and MDA said he was playing to soft), and now this (not his fault).

Then again, I guess the same could be said for Nash and Blake. Injuries suck. But Pau's timing just seems to force us to hate him. When is rains...is Pau's

I think it's safe to say that our hate as you call it of Pau has nothing to do with the timing of his injuries. No need for me to re-hash whats already been said Pau's discussion thread.

Good game so far. He looks agressive, he's looking for his shot, rebounding well, his overall activity looks good on both ends.

He's looking pretty good tonight, actually seems to be putting some finesse in his finishes instead of just chucking them towards the backboard like normal. But it's not like he's really facing much resistance either.

Great game, minus the turnovers. Looked strong, athletic, went to the basket strong. Makes the D a lot better.
