No, the media asked a simple question and Dwight spilled everything that has been obviously bothering him, all pretty much voluntarily. He's far to emotional and he's showing it now, whereas mostly everyone else is pretty good at keeping It in-house. If he thought Kobe was rough to deal with before, now, uh oh.

I wonder who management will favor now? Ok not really. Kobe's hints of retiring answers most of that. It's Howard's team going forward so stop fantasizing Kobe fans.

It's word for word, plus put in context by the reporter who actually said "here's the context", and it's from today. I get what you're saying man, but sometimes things just are what they are, no need to be in denial about this one. Anyone watching games this season could tell Dwight wasn't happy on the court and that he and Kobe don't love eachother.

Read it again, he is clearly defining what alpha male means to him & not referring to Kobe at all. He is basically saying he can have fun while being an alpha male & he doesn't have to go about grunting, snarling, or pissing all over the place. He can smile & his teammates like it when he does.

Here's the context: Kobe spoke first today. We relayed his quotes to Dwight. Then asked him generally if he saw himself as an alpha male

I fear that some of you read that wrong and think they asked Kobe if he saw himself as an alpha male, which is not the case, they asked Dwight if he saw himself as an alpha male. The fact that the reporter mentioned Kobe spoke first was inserted there for the reader to assume the question or any conversation regarding being the alpha male was asked to Kobe, which it was not.

Like I said, read carefully, the media is trying their best to re-create the Shaq/Kobe feud...don't fall into their nonsense.

I've read it like 20 times, I don't see how you can seriously read those quotes and not see him referring to Kobe in every single line.

Dwight: "If you're an alpha male, you don't have to always show that you're the alpha male. Just be who you are."

Be who you are, meaning he can be his own personality & smile.

Dwight: "It's not about making your mark or going around pissing everywhere. You don't have to do that."

Again, defending who he is & that he doesn't have to go out of his way.

Dwight: "My presence is felt every day and I don't have to come here and growl and snarl at people."

He can be effective being himself.

Dwight: "They [teammates] like when I come in, have fun, and enjoy myself. If they can't do it, it's not a great working environment."

They have to accept him for who he is and if they don't that's their problem.

Dwight simply responded to their GENERAL question about what an alpha male is to him, Kobe spoke first, but was never asked these questions. This is where the trick comes in, Kobe spoke first but that has zero to do with the question Dwight was just asked about being an alpha male HIMSELF.

Dwight asked me to define "alpha male" behavior. I said: "It's a dominant, everybody get out of my way, I'm the man attitude"

Dwight said: "That's not being an alpha male. If you're an alpha male, you don't have to always show that you're the alpha male."

To conclude, he doesn't show he is an alpha male with personality (grunting, growling, pissing all over) He does it on the court as he already stated.

Dissecting the media is all it takes to see their intentions, don't be so quick to jump the gun.

Because you as the readers are assuming Kobe is the alpha male & that the quotes are about Bryant or that Bryant was asked about being an alpha male.

They asked Dwight what alpha male means to him, Dwight has always been bothered about how he smiles too much and how he doesn't have it in him to be a leader (alpha male) & his responses are always aggressive about that. He always defends his personality, as he did just then.

Dude, I never want to accuse someone of trying to hard here, that's just not my thing, but come on man you're trying way too hard. You're making excuses for Dwight at an extreme level, his comments are clear, to see them the way you did takes a lot of effort. It is what it is man, Dwight's not happy, he and Kobe approach the game differently, and clearly they aren't best friends.

Look at his past interviews about him smiling too much and you'll see. Media hype, the fact that Kobe spoke first had no business whatsoever in this.

Eh, these comments aren't that big of a deal. Obviously referring to Kobe, but Dwight's comments are more in defense of himself than anything else. They'll work it out off the court, I just hope they can figure it out on the court.

Not defending his play. Defending his manhood against the implications that Kobe's comments suggest that Dwight's not an alpha.

Maybe I should've said it differently; they'll work it out off the court ... because there isn't much to work out. I'm pretty sure fans care more about these comments than either Dwight or Kobe. I feel like I'm back in the Bynum discussion thread with us reading too much into these comments.
