apparently he makes 80% in practice and has improved his form a bit with the staff. so where is that in a game?...

How can you "not care about rebounding" when he got beat for 3 on free throws? Those led to 5 points in a close game. It's a basic fundamental breakdown not a stamina issue IMO.

As for the free throws.... we are not seeing anything new from Howard on this front. He's always done this. He'll have a decent game and then another one like this. He's not going to shoot better than 55% is my guess, so coaching and having people who understand not to give him the ball unless he can dunk it at the end of games is going to much more important than getting him a free throw coach. He's the best Center in the Game but he has his issues.

Making 80% in practice doesn't mean a damn thing unless you're doing a work-shoot drill.

Dwight needs to do a bunch of drills first. Rebounding. Sprinting. Postup. Whatever. Then stop and go to the line and make 2 FT's. Then go back to doing his work drills again for 10 minutes and do it again. This will simulate what it's like to make FT's in a real game. You have to go to the line cold and sink the FT's.

On top of that, making shots in a real game is a different situation pressure-wise. Just ask Sasha.

He's been in the league 8 years and currently playing his 9th year. He has yet to become an efficient FT shooter. I doubt he ever will become one despite your ranting and raving. We knew this when we traded for him. What you see is what you get.

Banking the FT's will at least give us a better chance of producing results even if he's fouled.


He was basically a 60% FT shooter for his first 7 seasons in the league. If we got that out of him I would be perfectly happy, teams would be a lot less comfortable fouling him.

Dwight's problem is that once he starts out the game missing them he loses all confidence and proceeds to a 3/12 night. He's mentally weak at the line

i remember they were thinking of teaching biedrins how to do that because of how bad his FT shooting was

His athleticism is coming back. I think he had more dunks in this game than he's had in the entire season.

Just like how bad FT shooting is contagious, I guess the same can be said about good 3 pt shooting. :man10:
