I'm not saying that Magic isn't correct re: LA being his town but i find it a very rare insight into Magics perspective regarding his place in LA. This suggest to me that the issues that many speculated existing between Kobe and Magic (that were based upon Ego and legacy) are true.

and as he said...Magic wasn't laughing when he said that

In regards to this, he also said after we beat Boston that Kobe was now his equal, and #6 would put him at the top.

That's always going to be a completely subjective topic, but I agree with Magic on this one.

For me, Kobe might eventually go down as the "Greatest Laker Ever" when all is said and done based on what he accomplishes on the court, but I don't know that he'll ever top Magic's "place in LA", if that makes sense.

Basically, simply due to their respective personality types and the time periods they happen to burst on the scene, I don't know if ANYONE could top Magic's standing in this town. He & Bird basically saved the NBA and began the revival that Jordan continued to make this arguably the 2nd largest sports league in the country. Magic's also always been the constantly smiling charismatic guy while Kobe is the scowling rip-your-heart-out killer on the court. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but it's easy to see which would appeal to more of the public.

Also, throw in Magic's prominent role with the Dodgers as well as all the businesses he has all around the city, and it'd be extremely difficult to see anyone top his overall place in LA as a whole. And that's no knock on Kobe.

As much as Kobe loves the Lakers I think he has something far grander in mind for himself than owning Los Angeles. I think he's more focused on continuing his international fame than being in Magic's shoes.

But as far as LAKERS go, Kobe is right up there with Magic. One more ring and he is the undisputed greatest LAKER of all time.

Johnson is right in that Howard's outgoing personality is a fit for the Lakers and SoCal. He has a tremendous opportunity to capitalize on. O'Neal certainly did during his time here. The Bryant-Howard tandem are polar opposites in personalities just like it was with Johnson and Abdul-Jabbar. Bryant though has displayed a more affable public persona in recent years.

Dwight will be on Ellen tomorrow 4pm. Kobe is a guest on Friday

*sigh* I'd love to workout with Dwight and Metta. I feel like that'd be a crazy fun experience for me.

Great to see him working out and it doesn't seem like there have been any setbacks based on the updates we've been getting. Its gonna be surreal when he steps on the court for the first time as a Laker.

^^ Definitely. He's got a ways to go to get back to his past physical dominance. But man, it's a relief to see him at least out there doing this kind of thing with some real contact. That's a great sign. Would love it if he could play the opener.

Once he can heavy squat again thatll happen quick.

His upper body looks good, but he needs more strength training for his lower body. Of course, since this is Dwight, we know he'll spend few hours in the gym.

Other then that... I like the lefty hooks. He looks almost ready, but this is not him @ 100%. Maybe 75%. But this is very encouraging: he can spin, push and jump. So far, so good. Also, Ham is a heavy dude. Pushing him is not exactly easy.

Just seeing D12 getting contact and having someone lay/push on his back like that, while spinning to do shots, is a great sign in terms of him getting back before the regular season kicks off. A little over a month before the season starts, I can't see him missing much time.

Ya, the elbow in the back being allowed should be the most positive thing we take out of that video. If he's allowed to get leaned on and pushed he's on his way

2.) Was that Earl Clark missing a wide open layup in the background? Dunk that ish you pansy.

3.) Look at those trophies in the window, if that isn't motivation to beat a** I don't know what is.

Yep, if him being smaller/weaker is the only thing to be said, then thats fantastic news for Laker fans.

I agree. He'll get bigger & stronger. At least that part was always easy for him.
