Dwight Discussion: Dwightmare on Figueroa St. Part Boo

Dwight, who normally never miss games, is now out. That's the Lakers for you. Someone is always hurt -- and they are almost always out "indefinitely".

Now we're really going to suffer. People who are not huge fans of Dwight will have the opportunity to see what he means for the team's scoring, rebounding and, especially, defense.

Finally, we'll have the opportunity to see what Pau can do in the post, since that's what he was complaining about. Unfortunately, I fear I know how that's going to look like. Hope I'm wrong.

Accidental elbow or not, it was a pretty solid connection. Novak's was a glancing blow. Just because Novak went down like a heavy weight champ, doesn't mean his was worse. Pau's looked like he could have broken his nose. I'm not surprised he got a concussion from it.

I have no doubt that they had words.... Kobe and Shaq had words.... Kobe and Lamar had words.... Kobe and Phil had words....Kobe and Bynum had words..... makes sense that he'd have words with Howard.

Now none of this is to think that I'm down on Kobe.... it's his team... he's' got the championship experience and he's proven to be a leader of championship teams.... he's also emotional and speaks his mind. Most people like that (I'm one of them) make points and move on that way.

Exactly. I would be worried if they WEREN'T arguing in the locker room. These guys need to have that kind of passion. But after the point is made and things calm down, that doesn't mean that animosity is still there. I think at this point we'd know pretty well if they didn't like each other or if they were really fighting. It wasn't hard to see when Kobe and Shaq were feuding.

As another posted pointed out, it's just for PR. Kobe and Dwight approach the game differently; their two different personalities and fans who know Kobe and Dwight knew this was going to happen eventually. Dwight has seemed mentally checked out of a couple of games this season. The focus just wasn't there.

Kobe has said he wants Dwight to play with an, "edge." Unfortunately, due to health, focus or whatever it may be, Dwight just hasn't had many games he's changed this year. I'm not blaming it entirely on him. I do believe his body his failing him. However, there are other times, when he just looks tuned out. Kobe don't take well to that.

Kobe is probably one of the most focused athletes I've ever seen; he doesn't get focused by outside distractions. Either way, I'm glad this is out now, and I hope things get worked out. If not, Dwight will bolt, and we can go in a different direction.

he looks like a total doofus whenever i see him on TV, not just in the picture

anyways, we all know what "at least 1 week" means, it's gonna be downright sad to watch this team in the coming weeks. a few more losses and we can officially put a damper on this season

Why do people keep saying PR? Kobe has never cared about the media if he did he'd be playing like everyone else wants him to play instead of playing like Kobe wants to play. Kobe already said he doesn't play or try to be someone else for people's approval. The guys probably had a typical brush as most teammates do in the heat of losing. The media just took it and ran with it as they normally do.

Im giving him the benefit of the doubt, he is more frustrated than anything. He is not upset enough to the point where he is thinking about skipping town, I think thats very premature given all we have had to go through.

Bryant dismissed the report as inaccurate.

"It's not true. We all try to be professional about what we do," Bryant said. "I guess some people skate around that a little bit."

The Lakers have struggled all season and currently are three games below .500.

"Obviously there are fake stories coming out, somebody has something against our team," Howard said. "It's not us. Me and Kobe don't have a problem with each other. We're not beefing. So for somebody to come out with a random story and say me and him got into a fight?"

"It's ridiculous," continued the Lakers center. "I just think it's funny."

Couple things:

-Reports state that his back injury was so bad it caused nerve damage that he's still recovering from. This injury was serious enough that he actually had to entertain the idea of being forced into retirement now at age 26 if things went sideways during his recovery.

-He stated today that the team holding him out a week is a precaution and he anticipates being out only a week to 10 days.

-When has he stated he's unhappy here? Unhappy with losing? Sure. But unhappy here in LA? Nothing to base that on.

Your statement is categorically wrong on a few levels.
