And he won't be. His shoulder will need surgery during the offseason.

love to see him and kobe high-fiving and hugging more now. really looks like the team and them have better chemistry and unity

I'm bummed to hear about the shoulder because I was hoping that he would have this upcoming off-season to really improve his game and do the things he wanted to this past off-season. I know he says he probably wont do the surgery, but I think he should even if it mean he'll need 6 months or so to recover. Heck, it could be like Lamar's injury where he didn't need that long after the surgery.

Yeah, it does suck to hear about his shoulder. He's had back surgery he's recovering from and now this issues comes up. I hope he doesn't excerbate it by trying to play through it...

I hate to say that if the team doesn't make the playoffs he should go for the surgery right away and start the rehab process. That way he''ll (assuming he resigns) he'll be close come training camp. Unfortunately that probably won't happen because he'll want to go on vacation yada, yada, yada...

Am I crazy? I thought this was the same injury Lamar had and he played through it?

At this point we can't afford to let him do it if he's able and if he won't further damage his body by playing. Until we're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, he should play.

Exactly, but given the fact that he said in the article that he doesn't want surgery I'm still up in the air whether or not he will get it over the off-season. He definitely won't get the surgery done when we still have a chance.

I can't wait until next season when Dwight can actually train again and get back to 100%.

The screens need to improve though. In Orlando he was one of the best screen setters. It's almost like in orlando he knew hed get the ball after a screen so he made sure to set them correctly

Now it looks like he's in a rush to get inside so he's slipping ahead of time to get the ball

The bold is true. He was a much better screen setter in Orlando...

It's probably just another selfish issue that has plagued this roster.

Dwight wants the ball or plays no defense and sets no screens
Kobe wants to eat first
Nash wants everyone to play the system
D'antoni wants everyone to fit his system
Ron artest has this delusion that he's a multifaceted scorer

Today and last game for the most part the top 4 have corrected themselves.

Artest though continues to believe he's Lebron James

Had a very good game against the Jazz then a poor one and here comes the shoulder ...

If you think this was a poor game you didn't watch. Look past the stat sheet. His defense on pick and rolls made a world of difference. The thunder were taking jump shots all game instead of their usual layups against us

If the shoulder problem absolutely requires surgery, he'll always have the excuse of never being 100%. If he gets surgery on his shoulder, he can't lift weights in the off-season again; if he doesn't get surgery, it'll be rested but won't be what it should be at full strength.

I for one think he's played great the last couple games and his attitude seems to have improved too.

Yeah he's definitely playing better. Though JVG's criticism was accurate I thought it was a little late and would've been better said a week or two ago.

Dwight definitely made a difference by being a defensive presence even if that stats don't show it.

Better attitude too.I'm fine with him playing this role until he's 100% or whatever, or as long as Kobe/Nash/Pau can shoulder the scoring.

Agreed, I'm ok with just defense and effort at this point.

One negative about this free flowing offense is that it really seems to have highlighted that the only way Dwight can get pts is by being spoon fed at the hoop. Even then chances start to diminished if he cant dunk it.

Still love what I've been seeing from the big fella!

The only complaint; 2-10 free-throws. Please do better then 20%...

He played a decent game but to say it was "Great" would seem to indicate he would at least go above his averages in some category wouldn't you think?

He was active on defense until he got his 4th foul and then committed a pretty silly 5th one.... when he went to the bench after that we separated a little because the lane was wide open and Nash and Clark had some very easy chances off Kobe action to the weak side. This is a fact.... not a slam on Howard.

I'm sure he's limited by his shoulder injury and he gave us some good defense early to establish the tone of the game on that end but I'm not sure how anyone can get to "great" from there.

What's important is that we won.... we looked like a team for once and we played some defense off of Howard for a change. The next couple games will be the key to seeing if we can salvage anything from this season.

Look, you can still try to be negative about him if you really want. And if you keep using his averages from before the injury as a water mark, you'l be likely to continue being negative.

I guess great for me means "great relative to the 50% effort" we've seen from him before. His points werent mind blowing, neither was his rebounding truth be told. But when he's that active and energetic I'll take it.

Great by comparison to what I've seen earlier this season I guess. Time to readjust our expectations for our players and this team. Baby steps boys.
