I'm so tired of the ESPN excuse. The words came out of Kobe's mouth and they slighted Dwight in a number of ways. ESPN is reporting it. There is no way to spin it positively. Stirriing the pot it what the media do. Not just ESPN and not just to the Lakers. He said, It was a stupid thing to say and Dwight is pissed. If Kobe doesn't want Dwight in a position to answer that crap, he should have never said. Tell you wife. Not the media. Kobe knows damn well that every word of his get's report, exaggerated, even twisted. Long run, Kobe might be costing us Dwight Howard. Short term, team chemistry just took 2 steps backwards.
What's next? "well they favor LeBron and don't spin him any sort of way"... yeah and that's because Bron does throw anybody under the buss.
Anyone ever realize when the Lakers history of "drama" started? It wasn't showtime. It wasn't Eddie Jones or NVE. It seems to coincide with Kobe. Is it a product of losing, yes. But just as Kobe deserves all the credit when things go right, I'll give all of it when things go wrong. On and Off the court. Since he isn't exactly sharing the role with Dwight he should get the blame. Not ESPN.
Imagine Dwight's perspective. The whole time he's been here he's been made by Kobe to feel like some pupil. Some apprentice. That's BS. Since DAY 1, Kobe says it's MY team. Then it was, "it's not going to be easy but he'll get there. ETC ETC" "I want to bring the dog out in him". In Dwight's mind he's thinking who the F do you think I am. I'm here to play basketball, not become your whipping boy and your project. Is Dwight a baby, yeah. But as "the" leader, Kobe should placate that and make it work. That is the first step in being a great leader. And that's the one thing Kobe is horrible at- being a leader. CP3 is what leadership is all about. Kobe may be old school, but the rest of the NBA is different. They want to hang out. They want to go to dinner. They want their wives and girls to go to dinner like the Clippers did. They want their kids to hang out. Even D Fish, Kobe's BFF, admitted he's never even been invited to Kobe's house. Kobe is cold. Yeah, he probably means well and has his playful light hearted moments (which seem more often now that he's older) but he's still a lone wolf. He prides himself on that. I understand it and don't disagree with it, but I am the first to acknowledge he is the cause to many of issues here. Wanting everyone to be a "warrior" isn't in the cards. Roll with the punches and make everyone comfortable, not vice versa.
I'm just a concerned fan that we are about to watch Dwight walk. A center of Dwight's caliber should only want to be in LA.. not just be okay with it. Which at this point seems like a stretch.
ugh! rant, over.
