I would be disgruntled too. Andrew is arguable the second best player at his position in the NBA. How many other second bests are in trade rumors ever few weeks? I see the same fire in him as Kobe has. He and Artest were the only one on our entire team last year that showed any emotion after losing to Dallas. I want that on my team.... not a bunch of shoulder shrugging regular season players......

By comparison.... every year Orlando exits from the playoffs you see a smiling Howard shrugging his shoulders at the podium explaining away his teams failures again and again.....

I agree, and I don't view a Bynum/LO for Dwight/Turkeyglue as an upgrade. Bynum for Dwight straight up? Sure... but a marginal one IMHO.

Who knows if Gasol will respond from a terrible Playoff run? Could you imagine how soft our interior would be without Bynum if Pau doesn't bounce back?

Gasol at his best isn't enough in the post alone. If the Lakers trade Bynum for CP3 I'll be really upset.

Bynum for Howard (they can decide the extra parts). Gasol for CP3. Sign a PF to take a little pressure off Howard and schedule the parade.

^ I'd trade Andrew for CP3 as long as we know for sure we're getting Howard for Pau, but that's about it. And I don't see how that's going to happen.

It looks like either Pau or Drew is going to be traded, heck, even both.

It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks for sure.

If Lakers can trade Gasol and Bynum for Howard and CP3, i will laugh for a week, way to piss on the entire league.

the offer to NOH as reported is they can pick between Bynum or Pau....you tell me what a team losing money and their star player is going to do with a 30+ something C making 20+mill/yr for the next 3yrs? :man3:

It seems like CP3 will be playing for new team come the season opener on Christmas. Orlando might hold on to Howard though until perhaps the trade deadline. But if CP3 gets traded to either NY or LA, Howard will just put more pressure on the Magic front office

I'm just saying, Chris Paul and Dwight Howard are an upgrade over Pau and Drew. It won't happen, and other players would be traded as well, but those rumors are at least funny. Kobe, Paul and Howard are the best big 3 in the league by far.

I would chose Pau over Drew because they won't win either way. With Pau they will be competitive 3 years and time to plan a rebuild team with the salary cap. With Bynum as franchise player they won't win jack and will be in the same position since they probably would sign him another contract.

I want Howard instead of Paul, and Gasol makes more sense than Bynum with Howard in the team. Odom would be traded to NO or ORL in both trades.

Let's see.

I'd laugh all the way to the bank if we got CP3 and Dwight. Sadly, there's no way Buss can afford 3 Superstar contracts. (Kobe, CP3, Dwight).

Dwight is actually pretty active on twitter and you can tell it's him responding to fans. Magic fans are getting pretty desperate, telling him that it's God's will (Dwight is openly Christian) for him to stay in Orlando :man10:

Huh? Kobe/CP3/Dwight or Kobe/Gasol/Bynum each add up to 59mil this year. If he can afford one group he can afford the other.

The problem would be absorbing the bad contracts each team would try to push off on us. Anyways people are getting carried away here with DH/CP3 coming here talk. I give a Dwight trade a 1/3 chance of happening and both a 1/20

ok here's honestly what i believe. mitch and co have always believed in size over flash. its always been bigs win titles.

i remember in 2007-2008 when a certain ben wallace rumor popped up a couple days before pau gasol was traded for

from my point of view chris paul is being tossed around as a diversion to the real trade for howard

Yeah, this year he could afford it. But I'd assume that trading for these guys would mean they'd extend their contracts, for 5 years $100 million apiece. That's a lot of luxury tax. Sure, in 3 years, Kobe is done, so it's just CP3 and Dwight.

And like you said, they'd have to deal with the bad contracts they'd try to dump off.

If this was under the old CBA with the old luxury tax, then it wouldn't be a problem.

And yeah, I think we're only getting one of the 2. I vote for Dwight over CP3.

This crossed my mind as well... Orlando may be playing one deal off of another and now it appears that we are doing the same..... Gamesmanship...

exactly there is no way a trade for a guy like dwight howard will involve

this is gonna at the very least take a week, or two, or right up until the start of the season to make progress if its going to happen

Here's what I think:

although I like both our guys, I'd trade Bynum for Howard and Pau for CP3. I don't think I'd trade Bynum for CP3 though (although running "showtime" would be relatively easy with Paul/Gasol running the floor and Kobe+Lamar getting tons of open space in the process).

In any case, I will trust Mitch this time because it seems he really has a plan. I do fear a possibility of ending up with 2 injury prone players (Bynum and CP) on our team, but then... I'm pretty sure the management knows what they are doing. Either one of these star players, let alone both would make us the most exciting team in the league and we would get tons of athleticism we desperately need.

On the other hand, we might end up with no new players since... that's what tends to happen when these big trades are mentioned in the same sentence as the LA Lakers. :man10:

I hope Mitch is smart enough to use the CP3/Howard to LA rumors to his advantage in negotiations for Howard.

Meet with Dwight and meet with CP3. Leak offers and tidbits to the press in an attempt to make Orlando think we have options for Drew to get the most advantageous trade for LA possible.... when we trade Drew for Dwight.

I really hope it could be that simple... it probably won't be, but I hope

I hope it's even simpler. I hope Mitch can convince Orlando that Pau is the best offer they'll get and takes it. Then Mitch convinces New Orleans that Andrew is the best offer for Chris Paul.
