I don't know if he'd come forward to volunteer again. It's true that Bynum learned from him (more than Bynum would care to admit, in fact), but it seemed like Bynum rebuffed the assistance at some point. Or am I mistaken?
I think that was the story as well.
Howard's post game could use some Kareem in it for sure. Hakeem's game is predicated on jumpers and turnaround jumpers.... two things Howard doesn't do at all. The back to the basket game and positioning of Kareem is what he'd benefit from the most IMO. The "dream shake" and a 12 foot fadeaway is never going to be part of his game..... the hook across the middle with the right footwork is within reach however IMHO....
