Earl Clark Discussion: Second Wind?

^ He's still a more dependable defensive presence than Clark is, which I think is the point. I happen to detest Martin, but I'd still want him on the team for cheap. Not my first concern, but certainly he would be helpful.

I didn't see him a lot. But I did see a few games from him.

He was trying hard and even had some inspiring moments, nice dunks...but came off as a very stupid player, kind of like Eyenga...scary.

^ He seems like an Eyenga/Ariza/Ebanks type. Athletic, young, and talented but they need the perfect situation to be successful. I don't think he'll find that here.

ya, agreed. I think he needs to be on a team like the Raptors, Cats, Cavs or Bucks...kind of dry teams that go no where and have no pressure whatsoever.

he'll get a chance to come in for spot minutes during blowouts (which could be somewhat often this year) and is gonna be in practice with 4 hall of famers every day.

I don't even know if it's the pressure, just the opportunity. He can't get opportunities here behind so many great players.

When teams have no pressure, they experiment with young players, you get more opportunities and there is less pressure to take you out. Teams are more patient and take the time to develop players.

Lakers don't rebuild, they reload. They don't develop talents, they get talent.

he might be the luckiest guy involved in the deal...

Gotcha. Last sentence there says it all.

The Lakers just won't fade away. Two years of early exits is going to make this team hungry. Nash and Howard are going to be starving. Jamison, Meeks, and Hill are going to be ravenous. We're going to a dangerous, dangerous team.

maybe he will be like a Jordan Hill. Not too successful on previous teams but drafted high in the first round. Comes to the Lakers and finds his niche. He probably wont get enough minutes to tell though

yeah because we so need to spend more after taking in Duhon's contract.

I'd be fine with one of Martin/Delfino/Pietrus....

Martin works because if D12's going to be out, we can have two offensive guys (Jamison/Pau) and two defensive guys (Hill/Martin) to hold down the fort until D12 comes back. That's why I like him at this point.

Pietrus/Delfino....I would definitely want on board with this team to be the backup SF....

I just want one of those 3, to solidify the bench. I think Meeks/Jamison can cover the scoring for the bench, any of those guys mentioned above works for me.

No offense Roos, but you pass on everyone. If it were up to you the Lakers would be made up of like maybe 6 players. I don't think you're going to be happy with ANY acquisition.

All this "one-way" player talk... They're bench guys Roos, that's why they are one-way players. You don't get a ton of two-way players off the bench in this league.

It's about depth. Does Earl Clark give us depth? No, he gives us a body. Does KMart give us depth? For sure. There's only a handful of guys available out there (for our needs) that would give us depth and not just a body to fill a roster spot. If we sign one of these guys that can contribute and give the team depth, I'm not going to complain because we just got better as a team.
