I think I mostly agree with purp n gold's assessment of Odom.

I think it was more of his size and lankiness and smooth play, not so much their styles.

I don't agree that he is a better defender than Odom (at least overall, maybe in some aspects he is). He was super versatile, had great length, and he was an excellent rebounder. We wouldn't have been such a good defensive team from 08-11 without him imo.

Solid game out of no where.

I think the benching has helped him to refresh his legs a little bit after playing 40+ minutes most of the games.

I think it's obvious that you and I think of defense differently (e.g., you have stated that Dirk is an excellent defender; I maintain he's below average). I also think of Odom as adequate on his absolute best days. Clark's a better man defender, for sure.

I think LO and Clark are two entirely different players. But if we're going to compare defense...

Clark has better lateral movement, so he is better in space, playing perimeter defense. Odom has always been a good post defender, even when we considered him "garbage". A big reason why we almost pulled the upset on the Suns in 06 was because Odom shut down Marion in the post.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

Heee's back! He really couldn't have broken out of the slump at a better time because we're going to need that out of him until our post-season run is over. His hustle and energy really helped out there. Knocked down 2 shots almost as soon as he came in and that block he had would've made Deke proud.

He passed up two shots he should've taken though. He's so confident one second and passes up a sure thing the next time...a bit confusing.

Kevin Ding

Earl Clark can give some great quotes when he goes into his "Eazy" mode. Here's one entertaining one and one ...
meaningful one after the Lakers' W over Memphis:

About his massive block vs. Quincy Pondexter at the rim: "I knew he was going to try and go up and dunk it, so I just waited for him and it was just great timing. You know, great block."

About the Lakers' playoff push: "I don't want to go home. I want to make it to the playoffs. I don't want to be on the Laker team that didn't make it to the playoffs. I don't want to be remembered that way. So I'm just coming out and giving it my all. I feel like my body got a little bit of rest with Pau coming back."

Yeah it looks like he wants to mix it up and ends up "outguessing" himself by not shooting the ball .

I have the impression he's not comfortable taking shots from the baseline too ... more confident with these 45 degrees angle shots .

Back 2 back very good games from Earl

He's perfect off the bench with Jamison, wonder how good we would be if Hill never got hurt. But that block today was :stunoice:

Huge these last 2 games. Huge.
