Earl Clark Discussion: Second Wind?

hmm...he's 6'10 and he can block shots....can he be another surprise player for us? Also, his mid range is legit, and he can actuallly take people off the dribble from the mid post area....i feel like he'd be a good match up for guys like Ibaka...i'm glad we have him on our team...provides depth.

I still haven't seen a picture of him with a Laker jersey or seen a quote since the trade. Will he take the min to play with the Lakers or will he bolt to China or Europe for more money?

Duhon hasn't either... not sure if thats a good sign for Clark. I was looking forward to seeing what he can bring in the preseason, especially of Dwight does indeed miss time.

Yeah I read that. I have a feeling he'll be retained as a Josh Powell/ Ronny Turiaf guy. A pf with some athleticism and defense and not much else. He needs to work hard though to keep thoughts of Kenyon Martin at bay.

This guy is needed to perform early because Hill will be suspended beginning the season.

From what I seen from him, he's a good individual & team defender. He's long enough to guard the 3/4, the Rudy Gay's, Lebron's, Carmelo's, Durant's, and do it effectively. If he can find any semblance of an offensive game, we may have something. If not, he'll be gone by the end of the year...

history, NBA player gets convicted in a court of law, he gets suspended by the league

Like who though? Jason Kidd was convicted for beating his wife and I don't remember him being suspended.

This is a spot I'm worried about.... we are very thin in the front court.

We are all basing what will happen on Hill's 25 games last year which were the outlier in his career..... not the norm...

If he goes back to the sometimes engaged player he was before that stretch we could see some big minutes for Howard and Pau.... Clark and Sacre aren't the answer..... that much is for certain...... I'd like to see some sort of move to give us some real NBA experience behind Howard and Pau....

The NBA suspended JamesOn Curry for 1 game for his guilty plea for
resisting an officer and public urination. The suspension will be served
at the start of the 08-09 regular season.

I'm not that worried with Jamison on board.

Having played with Odom, Gasol and Bynum for years. I think we are ok. That being said, we do need Hill to perform because he is pro-active, Pau and Jamison don't have that engine.

The problem Hill had before coming to the Lakers is they asked him to play C and be a "post" player. Hill is just an energy guy and rebounder and is better suited to play PF. With Gasol & Howard that is all he'll have to be. That is why he was so good with the Lakers because teams had to contend with Bynum/Gasol so Hill just had to crash the glass. For that he is very good.

I hope Clark sticks. He gives us another young athletic 6-10ish guy we can throw at Durant. Will he stop him? Of course not. But, if we can throw a combo of Metta/Ebanks/Clark at him maybe we wear him down a little.

I just hope it wasn't a "contract year" thing. Howard being slowed a little while recovering and Pau being a little older is going to make it critical that Hill performs. Jamison will be a great off the bench players but he not a disruptive player on defense and isn't really a PF/C.... I think the "second unit" will have Hill/Jamison and one of Howard or Pau.... I don't think we'll see much of a Hill/Jamison front line alone....

I don't know man... I think public urination is different vastly from assault or battery and I just don't see the league doing anything in this situation. In fact, I'll put a bet down: whoever loses, all of their posts must be written in haiku for 3 days. You say he will get suspended, I say he won't. Deal?
