Ebanks might be Kobe's primary backup? (Nope its MWP! Pg. 5)

But that would give us an advantage though....Mike Brown doesn't roll like that.

I already got the solution: Meeks/Ebanks/Jamison/Hill/Gasol or Howard

Just run the Princeton and we don't need a real PG, just like the triangle.

Saying Ebanks would back up Kobe just pushed Meeks a little harder. Meeks is the right guy to backup Kobe. Question is who backs up MWP? Is it Ebanks or Jamison. Jamison has looked awful.

The problem is that Meeks run an offense.

He stunk until midway through the 3rd...he let James Johnson beat him for an alley oop and Brown got in his face and screamed at him. He played well after that. Good to see. I think Devin has complacency issues which leads to inconsistent play

Has nothing to do at the 2 .. him and Metta are the worst wings spacing combo I've seen for a while

He's going to be an interesting back up to metta. He's actually been pretty good

I like what I've seen so far, but the key with Ebanks is consistency. At times he tends to disappear, and if he wants to get minutes he can't let them happen.

Yep. He quietly averaged close to 7 ppg this pre-season.

He developed more range. He developed a nice little driving ability. And his defense is still solid. I'm definitely hopeful that he gets a chance to show his mettle out there.

You think Meeks can bring the ball up against pressure D?

I never watched Philly that much, so I've never seen him do it.

I was almost joking about Meeks. I only suggest it because Brown is trying to find minutes for guys like Ebanks and Jamison who both really deserve to play.

Meeks played some point in Philadelphia. I think as a short term lineup, that'd be a good one. But definitely not long term.

I see. It might work against certain lineups who aren't known for playing pressure defense. Definitely not a long term option.

No.

Meeks is a decent ball handler though. Good enough that he could fill in for a couple weeks if say Blake and Duhon ran into each other and both fell on spike strips in the parking lot.

HAHAHAHA

http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakersnow/la-sp-ln-world-peace-backup-shooting-guard-spot-20121106,0,4252595.story

Metta World Peace will get minutes at shooting guard, Lakers Coach Mike Brown said.

"That's going to be my second unit," said Brown. "Metta will be the two, [Antawn] Jamison is the three, [Jordan] Hill is the four and [Dwight] Howard or Pau [Gasol] is going to be the five.
"

Brown experimented on Sunday against the Detroit Pistons with a lineup featuring Howard at center and Darius Morris running the point along with Hill, Jamison and World Peace.

In their second-quarter run of about three minutes, the group was able to extend the Lakers' lead from 18 to 21.

Devin Ebanks will remain in the rotation at shooting guard and small forward, as Brown looks for minutes to rest both Kobe Bryant and World Peace. For now, Jodie Meeks and veteran Chris Duhon, are unlikely to get significant minutes.

"I've got to give my bench a chance, because right now I really haven't. I've been messing around with it too much trying to search for combinations," said Brown. "Now that I've found a combination that I think I want to roll with it a little bit, let's give them a chance to see how they play before making another change."

The Lakers as a team have been shooting well this season, diminishing the need for another scorer like Meeks. Now Brown is looking for his squad to improve defensively.

With the 6-foot-7 World Peace at shooting guard, the Lakers will have a sizable lineup featuring Morris (6-4), Jamison (6-9), Hill (6-10) and Howard (6-11). When Gasol (7 feet) rotates in instead of Howard, the Lakers are even taller.

The Lakers started the season 0-3 but finally got their first win over the struggling Detroit Pistons. They may have a bigger challenge on Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz.

This is discussed in other threads and... it seems like he's really messing with our heads right now. Sounds like a joke really, but unfortunately... it isn't. He finally realized Ebanks is not that good as a SG (which is not Devin's fault BTW) -- so he decided to try Metta instead. Maybe in his Indiana days, yeah.

It's so sad. Meeks was our only knock down shooter outside of Nash going into this season and Turd Face won't even play him. We will be so ****ed in the playoffs when teams zone up and we have no one that can knock down a three. And when Turd Face decides to throw Meeks into the game he will be utter garbage since he won't have any rhythm at all.

MWP at the 2.... Why stop there?... why not try Hill as Blake's backup?..... I've seen him handle the ball at the top of the circle.... he's not half bad....

Ebanks should be furious with Brown. This is just disgusting... Benching him and then relegating him to bench warmer last season, now relegating him to bench warmer after being in the bench rotation.

Oh my head. MWP at SG? Not playing Meeks who was brought in to be pretty much our only shooter? Ebanks had a really good preseason so he doesn't play him certain games for no reason, clearly already messing with his head and his game? Gotta love Mike Brown.
