Eddie Jordan leaving Lakers for Rutgers

Rutgers has offered its coaching job to Lakers assistant Eddie Jordan and sides are discussing parameters of a deal, sources tell Y! Sports.

Wish they would take MDA instead.

Not sure if Eddie Jordan the coach or Eddie Jordan the fan in the suit that always gets great seats behind the Lakers bench.

Jordan deserves to lead. He's probably here doing hardly anything. I hope he takes it and does well.

I believe it was Ireland who suggested he'd be a good fit, I didn't think it would happen but it's good for Eddie if it does.

I should get an assist for that. It's an intentional pass to oneself, so it's an assist. That way people can't say all I do is shoot.

Good thing I saw this post I was about to make a new one

http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports. ... b/related/

Report: Eddie Jordan will accept Rutgers job

Rutgers University will head into a new conference – the Big Ten – with a new head coach. Rutgers alum Eddie Jordan, previously a head coach of NBA teams in Washington, Sacramento and Philadelphia, has reportedly accepted the head coaching job at his alma mater, according to NJ.com. He comes to the Scarlet Knights from his current gig as an assistant coach for the L.A Lakers.

Jordan was the East Regional MVP for Rutgers in the 1976 Final Four, and holds school records for assists and steals. He served as an assistant at Rutgers for five years in the 1980s. Prior to his retirement from the NBA in 1984, Jordan also won a world championship as a Laker.

Jordan is known as a guru of the Princeton offense, and he should provide a solid defensive foundation for the Scarlet Knights as well.

Primarily, however, it will be Jordan’s job to stop the bleeding, as Rutgers continues to reel from the Mike Rice practice scandal. His reputation as a local legend and a solid coach with NBA connections should help Rutgers mine some of the talent in the New York/New Jersey area, as will the impending move to the rugged and nationally revered Big Ten conference

I joked earlier, but good for him, I think he deserves to coach at least somewhere, be it pros or college. Hopefully he can do well there and make people forget the Mike Rice crap.

Good for him. Kinda felt bad for him after Brown was fired and the offense was scrapped. He's basically without a role on the bench. Hope he does well in his new job.

I think Ireland was saying something Friday on their show about himself putting the bug in the ear of someone at Rutgers about what a great fit it would be. Hey and Eddie's got that "Ivy League" offense. Forgot what a baller he was. Good for him. He looked usually miserable behind the bench after everything he came here for got scrapped.
