We Lost the Battle, Not the War
by Chris Manning (LD2k) -- July 5, 2003

It goes like this; Losing was the best thing that happened to this team, this saga, and this legendary, one-of-a-kind dynasty. Not winning the fourth straight title not only woke us up, but also re-built a tremendous hunger within the Laker players. It has also allowed us to setup for more championships, and a possibility to assemble one of the most talented teams to ever step foot on an NBA court.

It's my latest editorial involving where we are right now, and dealing with the whole Malone Payton scenario. I think alot will enjoy it. Thanks.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

BEST VIDEO EVER ... AND AND THE SECOND BEST.

As can't I. When July 16th comes, and Payton and/or Malone signs with us.

I will absolutly [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] myself. But untill then, we can only hold our breaths... It's almost to good to be true, but it's more reality than a dream at this point, and it's becoming more realistic every day!

Great article LD!!!!

You are correct in all aspects. I just can't wait for July 16 and stop the guessing and the waiting game we have to endure. I know that the first day of free agent signings is just 10 days away, but it feels like an eternity.

Well as of yesterday, we will know within 48 hours whether Payton is going to sign or not.

Let's say after 48 hours, that Payton and his agent guarantees that he'll sign as a Laker.

Hopefully he doesn't pull a "Tracy McGrady" and breaks that promise when July 16 comes around.

Doesn't matter to me, July 16th is all that matters to me...
