fish and fox-time up?

Postby lakers frizzo on Thu Jul 17, 2003 9:41 pm

With all the stupid rumors of fish getting traded, why not make it a legitimate rumor and add fox into the mix? hes up there in years too and he makes 5+/yr and fish makes 3/yr if we could get those two on the trading block we could get a quality young player at any position in return and hell why not throw in a draft pick or two (we wont need em anyway and theyle be #32s anyway) with a trade like this the other team would get a good shooting bu pg(fish) and a player that will save em $ next year(fox) cause he said if hes traded hell retire! we could get a player like arenas and save cash on the cap to get a deal done with kobe next year or get a great front court player in return that could back up shaq when he needs a rest(which we need). i love both players but i think its time to look at the next five years and not the last five years of the organazation. thanks for the memories and for the future ones.
and before you say this is rediculious think how good we would be with a lamar odom on the team or arenas off the bench or van exel off the bench or......name a few players that are playmakers at 8mill a year---
is shaq satisfied with three titles and continuing to blow up to 400 lbs or will he get the other hunger back and get down to 320 and win three more?? GO LAKERS 2004-06 CHAMPS!!!

and if Rick Fox views this post: sorry homey i know you took alot less $ to play in la in your prime and was a huge part of the three championships but the injury you had will keep us from winning more than two in a row if we keep your contract so keep your head high and kiss vanessa and we could bring you back as a assistant coach or front office because you took a paycut before karl and gary to bring us to greatness and I applaud you for that and you will ALWAYS have love in la.

idk about fox bein traded but i really think fisher should be traded to a team where he can start , he deserves it. i mean behind gp he would only get about 10-16 min as where a young promisin pg like pargo could benefit far more behind gp than fisher. but then again i tell myself what if god forebid gp gets injured we would only pargo at the pg but then i also tell myself we have enough depth that we could handle somethin like that like maybe playin kobe at the point. but back to my point i think we should trade fisher for a young promisin back up center like dan gadzurich of the bucks. im sure the bucks would take thiscaouse they traded away cassell and lost kevin ollie to free agency. i really dont know what the lakeshow will do next to make all the pieces fit. ill check up on realgm.com to see if my trade porpossal is accepted.

not going to happen

fisher and fox are great deals lakes wont trade em unless its for a really good player that makes about $8M a year... but then the team w/ that player wont want to trade for fisher n Fox... and if they did the Lakers prolly wouldtn want him

Fisher n Fox will get their 4th ring, no worries

i disagree......fox is valuable due to the fact if he is traded he will more than likely retire that would free up 4.1 mil of cap space, and Fish is a bargain at 3mil......you can package them with Slava and be in the 8mil range type player.........

8 mil you can have

Larry Hughes $4,545,000 3-yr; 14.70M 2004-05
Kwame Brown $3,974,760 4-yr; 17.29M 2003-04 (t)

or

Austin Croshere $6,960,000 7-yr; 51.0M 2004-05 (p)
Fred Jones $1,367,400 4-yr; 6.77M 2004-05

or

Toni Kukoc $8,822,182 4-yr; 28.0M 2003-04

or

Jerome Williams $5,250,000 7-yr; 40.8M 2006-07 (p)
Eric Montross $2,720,000 11-yr; 17.0M 2004-05

or

Marcus Camby $6,750,000 6-yr; 39.00M 2003-04 (p)
Rodney White $1,820,520 4-yr; 7.94M 2003-04 (t)

or

Brevin Knight $5,000,000 4-yr; 20.18M 2003-04
Stromile Swift $3,639,000 4-yr; 14.80M 2003-04

dude first off, Rick got his [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] kicked......second , if you watched the playoffs he sucked....when he got injured i thought it was a blessing in disguise, because that would force Phil to play Deaven more, but then D got hurt too....teams will want him if he retires, thats saves cap space, why not use that to help our team, we will never be under the CAP with 2 guys at 40 mil...... :man7:

I think that mitch should think about this possibility so we have a chance of getting four+ in a row. being the fact that we will almost certainly get two in a row we could start thinking about 2005-06 and trading fish is a good idea if we better the team by doing so and im sorry to say it but fox is done! also think of it in the respect of whos going to start at the point in a couple years(pargo)? I realy think alot of teams have already thrown in the towel for this year and would love to make space for kg on there team next year. alot of teams could better themselves just from the championship experience they would aquire.

I know Kobe is not going anywhere, but still if these allegations still burden his mind and his head is not completely in the game then losing Fish could mean very bad things for us....the only trade that looks appealing from the ones that are listed above is the trade for larry hughes and kwame brown....both young both athletic and both have tremendous upside for the future...plus we will get back the positions we will lose with Fish and Fox both departing...I know its a stretch and it most likely won't happen but its fun just entertaining the thought.

yes .... however i dont think they are getting enough in return, we'd have to package some #1's to get Kwame

Indiana however is trying to rid them selves of Austins contract........they also need veteran / stable back ups for Artest and Tinsley.......so it makes sense for both teams.........MITCH ARE YOU LISTENING, EVEN THOUGH ITS MY IDEA, YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE CREDIT ...
