Just seeing how crucial Pau is to the offense here, I'd say no. His passing ability is extremely important to this offense and to Dwight's success.

I love his passing ability, too, and he's a better outside shooter (I think). But he has absolutely zero lateral quickness anymore, and opponents just go around him all the time. Even Sacre looks better at guarding people face-up.

I don't know if J Smoove is that much of a better defender, but we seriously need youth, quickness, and athleticism to improve our pathetic looking defense, so it's gonna be hard finding the perfect piece for Pau if it were even on the table.

Pau might be sleepwalking right now, but his passing ability is something we can use. He makes Dwight better with those nifty passes. His D doesn't look good though.

I don't think I'd trade even a washed up Pau for Josh Smith . For one thing, Pau is a legit 7 footer, he can play both PF and C, and he's a very smart player and good passer. Lastly, we ask for him to be more aggressive sometimes, but at least he's not a chucker, throwing up and bricking 3s all the time. I'd rather keep Pau if the best we can do is Josh Smith, or maybe trade Pau for a couple of solid young players with potential.

That would be a horrendously bad trade.

Maybe if Brown managed his minutes better, he'd be able to give more consistent production. But the way things are going, the brick wall isn't too far away for Pau.

I just remembered Josh Smith is one of the better pick and roll players in the league. Also, some of his notable stats last season:

9.6 rebs
3.9 assists
1.4 steals

Not bad. I just don't like the 17 shot attempts for 19 points. But maybe with Nash he'll be more efficient. I haven't actually seen him play many games, so it's hard to judge.

For me I think Pau is just being aggressive inconsistently.

I don't like Josh Smith, and I wouldn't trade Pau for him. Having said that, he would make us better defensively (unquestionably) and I would be a little intrigued to see how playing with Nash (and other great players that draw attention) made him look

Oh yeah!.... no way man.... if we had Smith could imagine the :man4: Dunks we'd get........

Smith is just about the most overrated player in the league..... can't shoot.... can't handle the ball, doesn't have a post game..... isn't a good defender (and no I don't count blocked shots as good defense) and is only effective in the open court..... Something that doesn't happen in the playoffs regularly.... or on this team.

Pau for 2 or 3 players would be a good deal IMHO.... Give me a serviceable big that can play PF and C.... a SF that can create his own shot and shoot the 3 and a real back-up level point guard and you can have Pau, Ebanks and Blake.....

Besides didn't Kobe say as long as he's here, Pau would be too? Also do we really want Pau to start worrying about being traded again after he's moved past all the rumors last year?

Where has he moved?..... He looks the same to me....

That's becoming just an excuse.... first it was our previous Center getting too many touches and pushing him away from the hoop.... then it was "he's worried about being traded"..... what's next.... they were out the ones with "wings"......

Again with the rotations... If you're going to subject us to Morris at the Point, you HAVE to give us a real SG.

Blake's playing well as the PG, but he's NOT a SG. We HAVE a SG that came here this summer. F***ing PLAY him!

news flash people we need athletic players. we have a 2nd unit that plays just like the first unit with no change of pace when they come in. josh smith would help change our whole identity defensively and on offense helping us get into transition and forcing nash to push the ball.

He's gassed...he has no lift anymore. Averaged 40 mins so far and is 7 minutes shy of playing the entire game in this game. I love Pau, but we might need some fresh legs if this continues. Mike isn't going to cut back minutes, so we're going to have to find young legs that can handle it.

With trade rumors starting to pile up, Pau will play worse and worse with each passing week. On top of that Brown will drive him to the ground. Either Brown must go or Pau... or both :man9:
