Free Agent Frenzy: Lakers Work Out Beasley (408)

Deng/ATL is actually a really good fit for both. I expect him to shine there like Millsap did.. Watch for Horford to get moved.. He's been injured like 3 years in a row & they had a pretty good run without him. If he plays the first half & gets his value back up I think he's gone.

From Stephenson's agent
“We’re in a rush to get a really good deal done,” Ebanks has said, “and we’re in no rush to enter into something that’s short of being a good situation for him and the next team or the current team.”

If we miss out on Melo, hopefully we can find a S&T for Pau & keep Hill instead. Love to see Pau to GS for Barnes, a future 1st, part of the RJ TPE. Get Hill for an average of 6 a year starting at 5. Get Iasiah for 8 a year starting at 7. With all of Larry Sanders issues I'm going to go pipe & say they'd love to get out of his contract without giving up any other assets, so absorb Sanders into the RJ RPE & our cap space. Bring Young & Farmar back. Fill out the rest of the way with minimum contracts. I don't see any way we get someone to take on Nash or get him off our cap in any way, so maybe we negotiate a buyout or get him to retire. I'd rather pay him to sit home than let him take up a roster spot. I like having a little cap space next summer more than giving up assets to dump Nash now.

Thomas/Farmar/Marshall
Kobe/Young/Clarkson
Barnes/X/Wes
Randle/Kelly/FA
Sanders/Hill/Sacre

Hill probably gets most of the backup minutes at PF & C.. Young gets backup minutes at both wing spots. We have a good young team all around with tons of room to grow. No 2nd star but what should be 4 very good fitting starters with Kobe & a very good bench. Lots of assets we could put together to acquire a 2nd star if we can't do it with cap space.

I could see Caron coming over if we pick up Carmelo, but he'd have to settle for either a minimum deal or one of our exceptions.

S&T Pau & they take on Nash.. Could see a Hibbert for Sanders deal going down.. 2 troubled young bigs with huge contracts, but Sanders atleast shows up when he's not doing something stupid off the court.

With the League loudly saying no thanks. :man10:

I'd want to see him really do some special stuff before I took on that contract.

Did I miss something between Bynum and Hibbert?

Apparently signing Bynum really hurt Hibbert's confidence in Indiana. He started performing badly when Drew showed up in town. Then had his best game in the playoffs this year after the Pacers cut Drew.

According to knowledgeable Pacers fans at another forum, Hibbert has pulled this disappearing act in the past.

But that was before Indy was contending for titles. Now with the spotlight on the team, Hibbert's mental issues are being picked apart by the national media.

If Indy is willing to take Nash off our hands, I'd be willing to listen to an offer from them. Otherwise, they can keep him.

It'd take more than that or me. Hibbert is a big risk at this point on a big contract. It'd take more than just an expiring contract for us to bail them out.

I'd strongly consider Pau (re-signed) and Nash for Hibbert.

I don't know. Hibbert sank the Pacers in the playoffs this year with his disappearing act. He could do the same thing to us. Remember Pau's vanishing act in 2011?

I want none of that.

Hibbert is probably just unhappy and would likely play better in a different environment.

Great asset if we can get him producing without being locked into his contract beyond 2015. I like it for a S&T Pau & Nash.. Pretty sure we can still afford Melo. If Hibbert can just protect the rim, he becomes more valuable next to Kobe & Melo than Pau. I don't care if he puts up 10 & 7. Just play elite defense & we're good.

We are not getting hibBert for gasol and 85 year old Nash.

Not a fan of his game anyway unless they are truly giving him away.

Hibbert complained about not being a part of the offense in Indiana... How would he react to Kobe? Or even worse Kobe AND Carmelo?
