I don't think Sloan is the guy for this team. Neither is Brown, but Brown is here and he's owed $$$.

Then trade for Dwight Howard. And hire SVG as an assitant coach.

I agree that the Lakers would be better with Sloan, but it would be completely unfair and dishonorable to fire a coach after a single shortened season. So, I am going to say no on Sloan. Sorry.

Jerry Sloan was available last off season, if they wanted him they would have hired him then.

No way they pay MB $12 mill and hire Sloan now, some of you people I swear

you guys, believe me I hate MB as much as the next fan. But let's be realistic. MIKE BROWN WILL BE HERE NEXT YEAR. He is owed too much money to be fired. The only way I could see him being fired is if we have a really crappy record like 20-30 games into the season (unlikely).

YOU PEOPLE???

so given an internet forum.. in which i doubt any Lakers execs read.. it's considered inappropriate for someone to post what they WOULD love to see what their team should do.. at the same time talk with others about it???

some of YOU people.. should get off the internet aristocracy and allow us our FREEDOM of speech to vent.. after all how much did it cost you??

Even when that coach has no business coaching a NBA team, not even the Bobcats? He's a great defensive assistant coach who's in way over his head. Fair? Screw fair. If you've made a monumental mistake, you don't keep that mistake around for the sake of being fair. You right the ship. Sadly, I think we're stuck with Brown for one more season.

He wasn't looking to coach last summer, he wanted to take some time off.

As for the idea of Sloan coaching this team, I'd love it. He's a tough, no nonsense coach who would actually have the respect of his roster. He's one of the last old school coaches around. He'd love coaching Kobe and MWP. Plus, it couldn't hurt our chances of nabbing Deron.

If they want to win another Championship before Kobe retires they better hire Sloan NOW. While they have a chance. Missed the chance to get Adelman. Can't make the mistake again. Brown is over his head

If they want to win another championship before Kobe retires, they better hire a coach who has never won an NBA championship?

I like Jerry Sloan but he's really old and I can't imagine him ever wanting to come to a place like LA or Boston or any of the major markets to coach. He doesn't seem like a guy who likes the spotlight.

Mike Brown replacements?

Postby laker911 on Wed Oct 31, 2012 10:30 pm

I know it is a tad early, but with the way things are going I don't expect potato head to last long. With that in mind, who should the Lakers replace him with? Who is available right now?

Unfortunately the other assistant coaches would be just as bad. Bernie Bickerstaff and Eddie Jordan? You're not sniffing a championship with those guys as your head coach.

Yes. Jerry Sloan is available, he is the only one who could come in and the team run well right away. I have no doubt about it. Only Sloan.
