God I hate ESPN: Kobe unhappy Lakers won? (123)

^ Kobe got 50-10-8 a couple years back. I remember b/c Luke blew a layup and Kwame blew 2 layups in the 4th that prevented the triple double.

kobe - 37 minutes played, 19/31 shooting, 20/20 FTs, blowout win
lebron - 44 minutes played, 17/33 shooting, 16/19 FTs, struggled to win

If someone scores 61 pts  and winning by 9 with the game not being close, or
is it better to score 50 pts :disagree: and get more assists and rebounds and ur team to win by a very low margin, and have the game be close the whole 2nd half?

What I wanna know is that when Kobe scores 61 pts, every analyst said that it was a very very close game and that he is a ball hog because he shot 60% from the field and his big man had 30+ pts.

But when a oversized SF has 50 pts, 10 assists and 10-11 Rebounds and his team wins by a low margin, it isn't considered ball hogging, or someone trying to stack his stats.

Oh well, I guess its another mystery about these Laker haters.

Of course he was gunning for the record. In the process, he let his man put up a 39pt night too.

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- LeBron James couldn't catch Kobe Bryant, so he settled for matching Michael Jordan.

James scored a season-high 52 points in his 21st career triple-double, joined Jordan as the only players with multiple 50-point games at the present Madison Square Garden, and led Cleveland to a 107-102 victory over New York on Wednesday night.

Two nights after Bryant set a record at the present building with 61 points, James was on pace to break it after scoring 20 in the first quarter.

He added 11 assists and 10 rebounds, becoming the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to have a triple-double in a 50-point game. James grabbed his final rebound with under 2 seconds left, then tumbled out of bounds as time expired.

LOL @ Lebron...nice try bud. The shooting spree nearly cost the CAVS the game.

CAVS played NY two other times, won both....

119-101 (Bron 26pts.)
118-82 (Bron 21pts.)

Tonight....107-102 (Bron 52pts.) Wish I had watched the game fully to see if CAVS keeping game close purposely so Lebron can try to break the record. LOL.

Nah....Bron hardly ever guards the opp's best offensive player. Of course I didn't watch the game so I am assuming he didn't guard AL.

Seriously...did he grab the last rebound with two seconds left? LOL.

Is he the new Ricky Davis?

And since when is scoring three less than MJ, matching him?

LOL so he was guarding AL? HAHAHA. I wasn't being sarcastic. It's fact Lebron doesn't usually guard the OPP's best player.

he did, he also had people help him when he got burned on the way to the hoop.

Kinda sad that LBJ tried as hard as he could to pass Kobe and in the process almost lost the game for them and almost breaking his ankle trying to get his 10th rebound, what a tool.[quote]

Everyone knows that ESPN and Cavs fans (as well as Kobe haters) will say that what Lebron did was better than what Kobe did. All they'll have to do is say that he got a triple double.

Can we argue that? I'm not too sure, but people will look at Kobe's 3 assists and 0 rebounds and blast him for that. Expect people to either blast Kobe or big up James.

Wonder how BSPN will spin it to how much better Lebrons 50 pt triple double in 44 min was compared to Kobe's measley 61, in 37 min.

LeBron wrote:"We go out and try to win ball games. Myself and Kobe go out and win ballgames and sometimes we make games like that," James said before the game.

"It just so happens where we get high numbers or we make an unbelievable play. It just happens that way. But we're out there first of all trying to win the basketball game. I never go into a game saying I'm going to try to put up a decent amount of numbers or anything like that. I've never been that type of player."

ESPN POLL

Which performance was more impressive

Kobe: 61 points, 3 assist, 0 rb 17 %
lebron: 54 pts, 11 assist, 10 rb 83%

WTF is this? yeah how convenient that ESPN leaves out minutes played and shots attempt in their little poll

If kobe would have played the same number of minutes as Lebron, Kobe woulda scored 76 or 77 pts. Im not sure but I think Kobe only played 36 min, so thats what Im basing it off of. Kobe rate of scoring that night was 15.25 pts for every 9 minutes of game action.

As it goes Lebron had the overall better game. But imagine if Kobe did in fact score 77 pts compared to Lebrons Triple double. It would be a great debate over which was better. As it stands I give the edge to Lebron on his game

Sports Center actually wasn't that bad tonight, Stuart Scott and Scott Van Pelt actually seem to like Kobe or at least respect his game. They led with LeBron as they should have, but our game agains the Raptors was next and they showed a lot of Kobe highlights so no big deal. They didn't really point out that Kobe had 3 assists and no rebounds in his 61 point game either, just spoke about it for what it was, amazing.

That's different for them, I guess I should have watched lol. If we have a classic game with Boston tomorrow that will definitely be the story until Sunday. Hopefully we are the victors.
