Going to the Game Wednesday: Up close Impressions

Gonna go root for the boys behind tretorus and evil enemy lines.

Any advice you want me to do? I was thinking of blowing up Mitch's picture with the quote of "they will pay for their basketball reasons" for one side of my sign.

Also would Nash travel with the team for this game? I know the last game I went to was after we go Pau and he got hurt and wasn't there. I really hope Nash is there still. That would be rad.

Just like Portland, in recent years we've rarely won in Utah. Refs hose us too with the crowd intimindating them like crazy. I'd be shocked if Lakers win tomorrow at Utah lol good luck man

I'm expecting this to be a LOSS with a raucous crowd chanting "BEAT LA"....but please make a #FireMikeBrown sign. That would be epic and it needs to be more widely known amongst our own commentators.

Bring some canned class and throw it all over the crowd. They could use some.

We're 5-5 in the last 10 regular season games at Utah and 4-3 during the playoffs ...

Does anyone know though if Nash would go with the team to this even though he is hurt or would he stay home?

Review from Up close and in Person

Postby The Laker Link on Thu Nov 08, 2012 12:23 am

Ok, so.....we lost. Really not what I needed, but such is life. No big deal.

Here is what I saw. Steve Blake stood in front of his man and guarded him pretty well, but not all the time like we needed. He should have ridden everyone all the time and things would have been better. They didn't seem to be faster than Steve per se, but when he let his guard down..........we got burned.

Kobe did good. He fought hard in the end, which I wish would have been sooner, and it almost worked.

Ron had some good lock down defense steals. Things looked good there, and he made some nice shots. He can work on some little things, like have more confidence to hit those wide open shots, seems like a time or 2 he gave them up for some reason, but other than that...fine.

Pau. He needs to work on his closer range shots. He was doing his hooks and they weren't going in. Really just needs to touch that up.

Dwight. I was surprised how slippery the ball seemed for him all night. Glad he made most of his free-throws...that seems to be improving really well.

Everyone else seemed ok. I am a little annoyed Mike Brown took so long to put the starting line-up back in, in the 4th.....seems like if he had done it some few minutes earlier, it would have been a bit of a different story but oh well.

I liked what I saw tonight, but it just isn't enough. They aren't HORRIBLE. Some things are working with offense and the defense can improve, and that is why things aren't working. It's like they know how to do it, but they are a step behind when they decide to do something and so we lose by 10 points or whatever.

This team is better than the record shows......we just aren't getting things done that need to get done. I think Mike Brown is a problem, I think another issue is really just they need to work at things.

My cousin was thinking Dwight is starting to show more that he isn't REALLY 100%, I can't say I really saw it but whatever.

I hope something gets fixed up sooner than later, because we need something now otherwise this is gonna be a tanked season and I really hope that doesn't affect Dwight's opinion on the Lakers where he cheap-shots us in the off-season.

THE BIGGEST EVENT of my night was the fact that I sat in front of a 12 year old Jazz fan who was wearing a C.J. Miles jersey and she proceeded to Trash Talk me every time I cheered for the Lakers in any way. Kind had serious guts, because it is obvious that I am in my 20s. But it was really funny and I was impressed she did it. She was just shouting the typical "Kobe sucks"/"Lakers suck" garbage but it was funny.

But Jazz fans love to talk spit when they beat the Lakers. So funny, as if like we care to hear them and is if we do that all the time to them when we are the winners on the road.

Fun night still for me and my cousin and friends. Was nice to be there in person.

Also a lot of this is my opinion. I figure a lot of you guys saw things better or differently, but this is what I saw and felt from my perspective of being there at the game.

Here's to the rest of the season.

I wish they had played tighter on the 3 point line because Foye was going nuts and it sucked, but I mean a couple of those late game 3s were still hit with a hand in their face which was surprising.

Also I thought I could tell that Foye flopped about a time or 2. I wonder if he is gonna get any word because of the rule now.

Also, the sound of Jazz fans booing the refs every time the refs called a foul against them is always a classic sound to hear for me now. I love to hear it and just think that they feel like the refs are out to get them or that the team is allowed to hit people like that and get away with it.

Also, Kobe's dunk at the end was EPIC. As well as Dwight's fouled slam dunk.....which I really hope he does more of, since it was so deadly with Shaq, and seems like it can be deadly for Dwight too.

Thanks for the write up. But it really bugs me when people say "this team is better than their record shows". I guess I'm just not in to moral victories.

I also don't agree that we don't look HORRIBLE. I think we have looked absolutely dreadful. A complete 180 from what I expected to be honest.

I should correct because I mean to say that I know the Lakers should be, because they are, better than their record shows....but they just aren't playing like they should be to show how good they are.

Things aren't working out. And they are losing. So they are the team that stands with the record, like the Lakers aren't good right now, but they can be and should be better than the record shows. Things just need to get fixed and re-worked.

Also I just don't think it was the worse playing I have ever seen from the Lakers. Was it perfect? HELL NO. Are they bad? Yeah. Are they bad like Cleveland before LeBron bad? Nope. But their record shows they are.

Things need to be fixed. They are ok but it wasn't the best and it wasn't what we needed. We needed more and then we would have won.
