Hard Truth: Kobe stays @ 5 or go to another team to get 6?

The upper management, (aka - Jim Buss), created this situation. To quote the movie, "GLADIATOR" - Comidus must not rule.... If Jeanie was running the show, Phil would be coach, Dwight Howard would still be a Laker, and the team would've been in a better position to acquire pieces for another championship parade.

But, the Hard Truth is Laker land is seeing a nightmare (or Dwightmare) played out and every other organization is laughing at the Lakers at how out-of-control things have gotten since the passing if Jerry Buss.

Is it true that Dr. Buss stipulated in his will that 'Comidus' be the head of the Laker franchise? If that is true, then Dr. Buss is partly responsible for this.

And as for Kobe, I bet he'll use what has happened as motivation to get his body in 100% condition. But that won't help the personnel that 'Comidus' and Mitch put around him - (I still can't believe Mitch chose MD over Phil...)

It will suck to see Kobe go out on some bad teams if that is how we stay the next few seasons, but personally I don't want to ever see Kobe in another uniform. There are so few stars that played for one franchise their entire career, I want Kobe to be one of those few. There's no guarantee he'd win whenever he went anyway, so why not stay, and be respected as a Laker for life when he's done?

Kobe has entertained the idea of playing in Europe but the economy in Italy makes things look fantastic here so my guess is that he signs a 2 year deal next year with an option. If we can't put something together that makes it worth his while then he may take off after one more.

It's hard to see a scenario where he gets number 6 here.... even through dark purple glasses.

Can we put him on loan like those Euros do with their football players, and let him play a year in Italy?
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

I don't think Kobe will go anywhere. He wants to win a 6th and 7th ring. If he does that somewhere else, it tarnishes his accomplishments a bit. He doesn't want that. He will remain a Laker or he will retire.

Get Kobe John Wall and Melo next summer, and things could get interesting.

Absolutely bogus premise. You do NOT know that Dwight would still be here if Jeanie were running things and Phil was coach. The only thing you know is that, if all that had come to pass, the Lakers would owe $100 million in tax.

Please take a deep breath and step back from the ledge.

I dont think he would want out, but if he did I wouldn't mind. He's done more than enough for my team that I would think any less of him if he wanted to win another ring elsewhere.

Well for 1, Kobe is absolutely not the type to go join someone elses team like Lebron did, even though Lebron made it his team.. He isn't going to another star, they're going to have to come to him or he'll play it out with what we have.. I don't think Kobe of all people doubts our ability to put the pieces next to him to win.. We did it 3 times (doubt we repeat if Mitch wasn't able to instantly replace Ariza with Artest). The last time we had cap space like this, we got Shaq.. Kobe will be a Laker for life & we'll get him back to the finals atleast once within the next 3 seasons.

This. I'm pretty sure Kobe said he's a Laker for life, and if he ends up with 5 here, then he ends up with 5. It would be nice for him to go to a contender, but I actually think he'd get more respect now and in history if he stays a Laker for life.

everyone would respect him more for staying at 5 than another for 6. even if he gets the 6...look at ray ray. reputation tarnished. yes he might have gotten his ring, but at what cost? the media hates kobe and that will be the best chance for them to tarnish kobe's rep once more before he retires

Going to another team won't happen ....

The most important question is : is it a good thing for the Lakers franchise that Kobe is likely to play beyond the 2013-2014 season ?

I think Kobe would rather retire a Laker with 5 rings than go somewhere else to win a 6th. Just my opinion, but I think that is his mindset. I would rather see him try it here, but that's me being selfish.

If he wants to continue to play and win rings, I can very easily see him taking the Beckham route and going to play over seas and really developing their league and fan interest.

Despite all the legends before him and all the records of theirs that is has shattered, doing so is one thing that no great has ever done.

I've always felt like he would do so and now more than ever I can see that happening.

Then again, if with have a top 5 pick and sign either Melo or Bron, I can see him staying on to get another couple rings.
