Hero/Zero

Hero: Pau - brought us back by himself real fast in a critical stretch where we needed to catch up. Scored well all night, decent rebounding, some really nice passes. (you could also call Kobe co-hero if you want)

Zero - Clark - He didn't have a terrible game, he was just the worst of our players tonight IMO. Foul trouble stopped him from making a big impact early, he committed some bad fouls, missed all his shots.

H: pau (kobe is hero 1b against noh though)
Z: clark

Why pau? Thought he was good for the entire duration of the game. Kobe had a ridiculous fourth quarter but was so-so the rest of the game. But the 4th quarter for kobe was so good, he should be in the hero column at least as a mention.

Clark struggled but i thought we would see good things from him after seeing his first play of the game.

H: MWP- Came back after 12 fricken days brought the energy and the fire. He played limited minutes but he showed how much it means to him to win.
Z: Gotta go with EC just because he bit way to many times on Gordons pump fake. Foul trouble kept him out of the game.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Problem is here, people are forgetting what D12 had done in 1st quarter and only remembering Kobe's 4th quarter. Even in foul trouble, D12 still had 3 better quarters than Kobe. But he only deserves zero here.

Proud of MWP coming back. But he was not hero definitely. Every lakers should have urgency at this point. Next 3 games are the real challenge. We won the must win game, good. But I'm disappointed and worried.

I don't forget anything, my Zero wasn't Dwight in terms of the whole game, it was his effort in the 2nd half.

I do admit that maybe I should put Kobe's first 3 quarters in there as well.
So, my H/Z would be:
H: Pau - Kobe's 4th Q
Z: Dwight's 2nd half effort - Kobe's performance through the first 3 quarters
I'd add Clark but I think his D on Vasquez was very important in the 2nd half. He was missing shots and had a few fouls, but D was the key to this game, and he provided it to close it out.

wait.... who are you to tell me he wasn't a Hero? Last time I checked I was the one who dictates who I choose for Hero/Zero. In any case to answer your point, you are right every Laker should have a sense of urgency. MWP has that sense of urgency so much so he came back in 12 days after having knee surgery. In any case, I don't know what "you being worried" has to do with my Hero/Zero selection. :man3:

Vitti uttered three words that surely applies to how Bryant made two free throws on one leg, walked off the court on his own and processed his rehabilitation plan amid the pain, frustration and tears.

“That’s really cool.”

Z: Clark I guess. that shot in the 4th was not very smart

Hs were Kobe and Gasol.
Zs were Metta and Meeks. Metta doesn't get a pass because he is out there trying to score when he should just focus on giving a few good minutes of D and rebounding (though posting up Lillard is an obvious must and he did a good job there).

We are lucky that the Blazers missed THREE wide open 3s down the stretch. Our def rotations were still terrible. Teams like the Clips, Denver, Houston, SAS and OKC make us pay for those open shots.

The Kobe Bryant Award - it's namesake
The Smush Parker Award - fill in the blank
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

Hero: Kobe. What a phenomenal overall performance. 47 pts, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, 3 steals, 18-18 FT and only ONE turnover on the second night of a back to back after playing 5 straight games over 40 mins. Was near perfection. And I liked that in the postgame, he said he knew he had to get the other guys going in order to win the game and he did just that. Master class.

Zero: Clark (again)
