Jordan Hill Discussion: Back for 2 yr/$18 mil

Re: Jordan Hill: Outbound to Nets, Cavs, Suns or Mavs?

Postby V.V.V.V.V. on Wed Feb 19, 2014 3:51 pm

Since the new CBA penalizes with huge repeater taxes, the new lowball offer is to take a player for a salary dump. Essentially taking a player for nothing, claiming that getting under the cap is that important.

Thing is, it is important for teams, but less so for the Lakers. They should be able to get more for him, from a team that wants a playoff push the last few months. The Cavs or the Nets might do it.

That being said, the Lakers are better off tanking and getting rid of him, than keeping his salary on the books this year.

Lakers would not look to trade Jordan Hill if they intended to re-sign him - they don't expect to - thus shopping

I love Jordan but he is just so damn injury prone. I would take whatever we can get for him. I had hopes for him becoming our next staple at the center position. The way he defends and rebounds is great but he cant stay healthy.

Did you even look up his injury history before posting this? Please elaborate on his extensive injury history for me.

Here I'll help.

I love the way this is sounding. Yes... please do have multiple teams bidding for Jordan. Get us the best deal possible :jam2:

He is most likely going to stay one more year. It's not exactly a surprise.

RT @ramonashelburne: Strong chance JHill moved by deadline, sources tell ESPN. Lakers deep into talks w/Nets, Charlotte, New Orleans on him.

Ramona Shelburne ‏@ramonashelburne 46s

With interest in Hill strong, Lakers expect something more than cap relief in return for him.

Of course, for that kind of player you better get something. And by "something" I mean a pick of some sort, right? :man1:

Ken Berger @KBergCBS
New Orleans also has a disabled player exception, freshly received today, into which Jordan Hill would fit. Lakers and Pelicans talking.

JHIll being dumped into a DPE is imminent :man10:

But with JHill gone, LA is still over the apron...so I'm thinking Brooks will surely get waived.

No I think they'll trade away Kaman as well. I see him getting shipped to Atlanta.

Yes, but they will try to trade anyway.

Trade Gasol, Hill, and Kaman... and we will lose every single remaining game guaranteeing us the best chance to land the 1st pick of the draft.

If we can sneak additional picks out of those trades... maybe we can package a couple of those trades and get a second top 10 pick... just saying...

Hill is an enigma. Flashes of brilliance, and then falls off the map it seems. Solid guy, but seems to be able to handle limited minutes for his effectiveness. His rebound rate per 36 min is near the top of the league, but the more you play him, the average "seems" to go down. I have not confirmed this, but box score watching gives me this impression.

At one point this season, he was playing better than any Laker. Now? If we don't intend to keep him, I certainly hope we do more than a salary dump. He is definitely an asset for a contending team, as he'll fit in immediately, doesn't need plays run for him, and he'll get hustle points.

Via Marc Stein:
LA's asking price for Hill is a 2nd rounder with the Nets and Pelicans in the lead to acquire him.

Hawes just got traded to the Cavs for 2 2nd round picks, so Cleveland isn't in the JHill sweepstakes anymore.

Other than the DPE, they didn't have anything of value unless they gave us a 2nd Rounder or a young prospect (Rivers).
