Horry is now a free agent

Postby Lakers Dynasty 2000 on Mon Jun 30, 2003 6:03 pm

Forward Robert Horry told ESPN that he expects to become a free agent when Tuesday's July 1 deadline arrives.

Horry said the Lakers, the team he's played for the past 6-1/2 seasons, will opt not to pick up his contract on Monday. The earliest Horry can sign with another team is July 16.

In 11 NBA seasons, the 6-10 Horry has averaged 9.1 points and 6.2 rebounds. But he's hit some big shots during the playoffs, and has played on five NBA title winners.

He's not gone... YET.

I could see him in purple and yellow next year. I really can.

I got to be real honest. Robert Horry has been a pain for Spurs fans for a long time. There is no love lost there. Back in '95 he stole one for the Rockets. Time and again he has shown the ability to stroke a jumper out of nowhere.

I can't stand Danny Ainge never had been able to. When Horry threw that towel at Danny Ainge --- I don't know. The equivalent of Latrell choking his coach.

Non of this has really anything to do with this thread except this, I think the Lakers could really do better without him. Fox, George, and Shaw have a few more years. Fisher and Horry need to leave.
THE FOURTH TIME AROUND --- IS EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST TIME.

I like Robert. He's helped the Lakers win 3 titles and I think he can help them win 3 more. He had an "off" season but he still has alot of basketball left in him. This isn't the end of Robert and the Lakers though. Even though the Lakers opted not to pick up Roberts contract's they can still bring him back for less money.

I dont think Fisher needs to leave. Sure faster guards get by him, but he makes up for it by takin charges, and using his body to do the dirty work. He's not that quick, but he should use his size to his advantage. By this, he should post up smaller guards. Fisher is unique, and I'm sure he can find a way to excell his game.

LOL, Hey Lakergyrl, I agree that Fisher works hard but this thread about Robert Horry. I was trying to figure out where got Fiisher leaving from.

Spurs Fanatic said that Fisher and Horry should go, so I was just defendin mah main man D-Fish. We all know that the Lakers didn't pick up his contract, so there's no need to write why we should keep a player who isn't gonna be with us... Horry needs to be closer with his daughter, and finding a new home may be his answer.
