How do we get around Hack-A-Dwight?

Because its coming

Hack-a-Dwight coming per @blazerbanter: After Howard goes 3 for 14, Blazers coach says he will return 2 the line 2nite

I wonder how Mike Brown prepares for this :man10:

But seriously, our offense is already out of rhythm and with so many stoppages and no flow its gonna be even harder to get into our sets. Wonder how the team will react to this

Fast breaks. Can't foul Dwight if he's beating you down the floor. Especially when your name is Eddy Curry.

Pick and Roll. Can't foul Dwight if somebody picks you off and you can't reach out to touch him.

They can't expect Dwight to shot that bad every game. Not going to happen i'm sure. And they will put JJ Hickson on Howard, ou yeah, good luck with that.

i heard reggie miller say that the reason why big men usually shoot bad at the ft line is because they have big hands but bynum must have big hands also and his shooting touch at ft line is pretty sweet so no excuses. Come on dwight! :bang:

Dwight needs to shot free throws better simple as that. 3/14 is just flat out unacceptable.

Either he doesn't play or improves his FT shooting. No other way around it.

Ever seen Bynum shoot a jump shot? His jumper is almost always too flat. That's because the ball comes out of his big palms and doesn't roll all the way off his huge fingers. At the FT line, he rests the ball on his fingers instead of the palm of his hand. That way when he releases the ball it rolls off his fingers better.

Dwight's problem isn't his hands, they're average size for a big IMO. He's not releasing it high enough and he's flicking his wrist too quickly without letting the ball roll off his fingers. The too fast flicking wrist also affects his jump hooks, which look flat as hell even though they manage to go in.

Put him in positions to score where they cannot foul him to stop him. Like others said, pick and roll. Get him on the move where it's harder to hack at him.

Keep going inside. Players have 6 fouls, not 20. Get their players in foul trouble, and those players will be less likely to foul.

Who honestly wants to be in foul trouble in not play. Thats just stupid.

it wouldn't be just one guy, everybody on the blazers can take turns following him and not to mention the scrubs who soul purpose to hack him good.

Play faster. Use pick and roll more. Let them eat an and-1. Teach Dwight to shoot underhand free throws (which can be done relatively quickly and would actually look cool). Alternatively, hope that Dwight can get back to 50+%, which is horrible, but it still makes them pay in combination with the other methods above.

EZ solution: Run an actual offense where we are actually up with a cushion while entering the 4th quarter. None of this Metta controlled Princeton offense.

It'll be fine if Dwight can just hit his average.

Want to prevent Hack-a-Dwight?

1. Up the tempo.

2. Dwight needs to rim run....beat his defender down the floor for the quick attack, you can do this in semi-transition too.

3. Dwight needs to hit his freethrows.

the the blazers would be in foul trouble early and take advantage of that by being aggressive in the paint. we settled for a lot of jumpers yesterday too. forcing up shots because we were too slow in executing.

Yes.

When deferring to Dwight's post-game as the offensive option, refrain from doing so in the 4th quarter of tight games.
