Dr. Jack " Haley " Interview

Who ever the Lakers target first in the draft, Point Guard or Power Forward will tell you the amount of confidence they have in filling that particular position in FA

He said "IF" the Lakers go for a point guard early. That means Mitch & Phil have detertmined the odds are aganist getting a big time point guard via FA is slim. So they are adding strength via the draft for a player who may be able to help fairly quickly like a Barbosa.

Meaning Gary was full of shyt and they don't think he is coming.

But...

If the go big early (espicially with all the Power Forwards in the FA pool) that is a very good indicator that they feel can fly with a Lue, Strickland or Fisher as a back up and they have a good feel about GP.

Considering they can't talk to these guys you wonder how they could have a good feeling is beyond me.

What else...

Think the Lakers have a "Great" chance of landing the glove. Garys statements recently about dollars is typical. "These guys are all about money" and the comments are directed at Mitch and Jerry.

He also thinks Howard can be had (easier then GP for the MLE)

Basically "it comes down to which team is easier for a S&T Denver or Milwaukee."

Ball's in your court Mitch.

Yes of course, I agree...

But the draft isn't what is going to change the team, it's going to be who we get off the free agent list, and what deals we can make...

Right, LD. We could use the help of a vet off the FA list.

But whoever we do get in the draft, we know they're not gonna have a lotta minutes... Unless Phil gets over his rookie phobia...

What I was excited to discover about Brian Cook (our #24 pick) was that he proved a point by staying in college another year and showing that he could take a team on his back and win, and he did that...he also won Big Ten player of the year...not bad...He is also (according to the Suns guys when they worked him out) rougher, tougher and a much better defender than they thought before they got a look...sounds like a solid pick...
