Who ever the Lakers target first in the draft, Point Guard or Power Forward will tell you the amount of confidence they have in filling that particular position in FA
He said "IF" the Lakers go for a point guard early. That means Mitch & Phil have detertmined the odds are aganist getting a big time point guard via FA is slim. So they are adding strength via the draft for a player who may be able to help fairly quickly like a Barbosa.
Meaning Gary was full of shyt and they don't think he is coming.
But...
If the go big early (espicially with all the Power Forwards in the FA pool) that is a very good indicator that they feel can fly with a Lue, Strickland or Fisher as a back up and they have a good feel about GP.
Considering they can't talk to these guys you wonder how they could have a good feeling is beyond me.
What else...
Think the Lakers have a "Great" chance of landing the glove. Garys statements recently about dollars is typical. "These guys are all about money" and the comments are directed at Mitch and Jerry.
He also thinks Howard can be had (easier then GP for the MLE)
Basically "it comes down to which team is easier for a S&T Denver or Milwaukee."
