James Worthy?

Worthy was so good he schooled the entire Bad Boys front line, including Rodman in the NBA finals. His post game was insane, almost at Olajuwon level. He was a great finisher and slasher, and an above average defender. He had an excellent first step and in his prime, he could get to the basket at will and finish with the best of them.

Players like him now? Ehh, I can't think of anyone who resembles him in the league now, maybe Carmelo, maybe if Carmelo played D, and Carmelo has more range. The Marion comparison is pretty good, if Marion had anything resembling a post game. LO, well, Worthy was a much better finisher, while LO was a much better ball handler, hard to compare them.

I guess the Marion comparison is the best one but no one really plays like that nowadays.

I don't see the Marion comparison. Worthy was a better finisher off the low block or on the break plus he would dunk it on defenders' grills. He had a perimeter game with a good mid-range J. Marion has the edge defensively though.
No siggie...

Think Worthy is available? I'd take him over most of this team right now.

Seriously though, Worthy is a little overlooked in the 'all-time greats' discussion, but he really was about as good as they come on any given attribute and absolutely integral to the Lakers history and legacy. I was too young to watch his entire career, but every time I catch a game on NBATV's classics or even just look at highlights it is readily apparent just how good he was.

We must also remember how many times Chick Hearn would refer to Worthy as Jamaal Wilkes. Ahh, the good old days of Chick. We miss him, that's for sure...

"To be removed if the Lakers make the playoffs." Well, I removed it for an hour and decided to put it back. I have to be honest.

I always thought Lamar Odom resembled Worthy's game.

Funny, I think James was actually asked about this comparison back on the KCAL broadcasts.

I think he said Lamar is "more like Danny Manning if anything" :man10:
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.
