All I caught was the tail end, but it's becoming very obvious how Dr. Buss's death/health over the last couple years has really damaged the Lakers FO.

With his passing and with the grieving period coming to a close, I think you'll find the Lakers bounce back nicely with more well rounded decisions. I think we'll see the Lakers really flourish here but it could take a year or two.

Here's what I predict:
1. Jeanie spends this season as the face of the Lakers' FO. She'll be the one people see most. She'll be the one in the limelight more because that's more her personality than her brother and it's more similar to her father.

2. Phil comes back in the summer in a big splash move. I still don't think he coaches the team, but he'll have an official job in the Lakers organization and he'll be marketed as a drawing point for free agents now and in the future.

3. The Lakers use that momentum to try to convince LeBron/Carmelo/whomever to come over and start the next chapter for the Lakers.

Well I'm glad she thinks it was a bad idea to have the franchise stoop to the new low of billboards to entice a player.

Will be interesting to see how the very vocal defenders of this stupid move react to that.... anyone who mentioned that it was a smart move was "out of touch" or worse.... Is Jeannie out of touch or worse?.... :man10:

Jeanie Buss at her best could be a white house press secretary. An even better looking Allison Janney character in the West Wing and just as good. She's smart, she is marrying one of the smartest guys in Basketball and they have talked basketball since Phil came to town over a decade ago. Not to mention the most important requisite of all, having grown up, not screwing up, and learning the business from her dad the best owner in the history of the game.

But, even with all of that she is just the sweetest person and cutest person ever.   I have a mad crush on Jeanie Buss. :man10:

4. Rambis will take over as Head Coach, with Phil as a mentor.

I think that's very possible. I also think it's possible that D'Antoni has a really successful season this year as a coach with a younger team more capable of some of his visions. Then Rambis just becomes Phil's liaison to the team and to D'Antoni. That part will be more fluid I think.

So people think Jim all of a sudden wakes up and decides to hire Phil next summer?

I don't know. Maybe if it 100% brings LeBron and Melo but otherwise Jim is gonna keep his head up his arse and believe in MDA.

I agree that Jeanie needs to be the Buss face of the franchise. Unless it's Phil, Jeanie is the only person with enough believers to calm the worry storm.
