Loved that video - I hadn't heard him speak much until seeing it. Very heartfelt, humble and moving words. He seems like the real deal

wow this is just sad. the end of an era. and i'm hearing that they've given him just a few days to live

i had heard the rumours and everything but actually hearing the reality of it is so sad. dr. buss is the greatest owner in sports history. he turned the lakers from a good team into one of the world's most recognizable brands in not only sports but entertainment as well. the lakers are one of the defining factors of hollywood and without dr. buss, you can bet there would be no showtime, not nearly as many titles, and certainly not this recognizable of a brand.

thank you for everything you did for this team dr. buss. he really is the greatest figure in lakers history simply because the lakers we all know would never have existed if it wasn't for dr. buss

terrible terrible news.

But i gotta tip my hat to a man who lived life the way most of us would want to.

He built a world class organization, oversaw multiple championships, saw the careers of amazing young men, and leaves a huge legacy.

Really sad ... the guy's the best owner in the history of sports and impacted all of our lives by putting together some amazing teams that brought us so many great memories.

You could tell his health has been declining over the last year.

I really hope he somehow pulls through this somehow ... but he's lived a full life, accomplished what most people could only dream of.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

BEST VIDEO EVER ... AND AND THE SECOND BEST.

^It's safe to say Dr. Buss life will be celebrated for his contributions as an owner to the NBA legacy along with being mourned. It's not mentioned or talked about but I reckon that it bothered him to cut or trade players that he was fond of. Nixon, Wilkes, Jones, O'Neal just to name a few. I read an interview with Buss a couple of years ago where spoke longingly of the old days when he had West, Hearn and Riley as part of his Laker group. It was nostalgic, heartfelt, reverential and touching...

When he passes on, THE one player who will be pained the most is Johnson. They were together for so long. Buss really supported him through the best and worst of times. To him it will be like losing a father figure.
No siggie...

Sad. But I'm not surprised.

I hate hearing this and I feel for his family.

I'm grateful for the legacy he has left and for being the greatest owner in all of sports.

I don't know what else to say, I'm at lost for words.

Damn, this has to be a rally point for these guys. Jerry has been the "Lakers" for as long as I can remember. When will they do SHaq's jersey retirement?
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Wow... I know they pushed for it to happen early because Jerry was sick.

A chapter of the Lakers is closing..... I remember when it began and the thoughts that a Real Estate Tycoon couldn't run a NBA team..... In the early days he was as maligned as his son is today.... maybe even more so...

God's speed JB....

Honestly hard for me to imagine the team without him. Even though he's been behind the scenes a lot these past few seasons it was still comforting knowing his presence was there. :man5:

i hope he battles it and can at least have some extra time on earth.

whenever it is he does pass, i will have similar feelings as I did of Chick's passing and Magic's announcement.

I'd be sadder than either one.

Honestly, any fan who puts other lakers above Dr. Buss isn't a true fan in my opinion. That isn't to discredit the accomplishments some of those players have done; its simply a testament to what Dr. Buss has meant to this franchise and organization.

Truly the greatest owner and laker of all time. We may never have another owner like him in the sense we will never have a player that impacted the NBA like Michael Jordan.

i didnt read the article to be honest, so i dont know how critical his condition is right now. but i really hope he's going to be able to make the shaq retirement in person..i can imagine how important that will be for him.

aside from that, this is about as sad as i'll be about someone passing that i don't know personally. greatest owner in the history of professional sports easily, and one of the most awesome role models i can imagine (rich as hell/dedicated to his favorite team/hooks up with hot *ss young models on the regs)

I really hope this isn't the last game he sees. He deserves much more than that. His true love was this franchise. God Bless Dr Buss, you will forever be remembered as the greatest owner in all of sports. Get well!

I hope he wasn't watching this game, the man has brought greatness here for the majority of his ownership, he doesn't deserve to see his team go out like this in possibly his final days. I honestly hope his family and time spent with them now are how he is spending this time and that basketball is the last thing he thinks about.
