I figured As much...

Doesn't make it easier though. It explains the spending and the rush on things... wanting Showtime back one more year... retiring Wilkes... statue for shaq. Actually that's probably why Shaq was in town.

What a terrible way for him to go out...

I really hope this isn't true. The source is not a big name so I am skeptical of their report. There are always hoaxes going around...

This is one of those "I'm hoping this isn't true, but it isn't surprising" scenarios. Haven't heard any other reports of it, so I'll hope for the best.

^^ Exactly. I'm not exactly trusting that site . . . and it would be the first I've heard of him battling cancer. But you never know. If true it's just awful. But I remain skeptical.

Looks true, Janis Carr tweeted it, Kevin Ding tweeted it and posted it in an online article for the Register, a quote

Buss' cancer was learned previously by the Register but not published out of respect for the Buss family's wishes.


Sad day, we always knew it would come someday though.

also adding how quick mike brown was fired.wish he didnt have to see his lakers like this before he goes

I'm so much more disappointed with this team knowing this... on top of everything they're also dealing with this

I was being sarcastic, normally their always the number once source for any breaking news. Anyways, it sucks to hear that we will soon lose one of the greatest owners is sports history.

Thats really sad to hear... Dr.Buss is one of the best owners in pro sports ever.

This is a tough season ... but sports become a sidenote when someone is reaching the final stage of his life. He did so much for everybody out there, us fans, without him there would be nothing we would cheer (or in these days cry :man11: ) about today.

... might be a bit harsh in those moments but maybe this could help our group to get a bit closer chemistry wise ... maybe that everything is going so bad for us right now will make us stronger for the future.

prayers go out to the buss family. and thank you Jerry Buss for forming this incredible franchise that we all love so much.


AND BEAT THE **** OUT OF THE CLIPS FOR JERRY TONIGHT PLEASE!!! :jam2:

Damn, I actually didn't thought I'd be this sad with this news.

I don't even know that man, and of course, he doesn't know me. But his work, in the end, has meant way too much for my life.

I believe I'm not the only one here, of course. I believe every longtime Lakers fan should be, at least, a little like me (and who knows, maybe some even more).

I cannot even begin to name all the good moments the Lakers have given me. I've enjoyed watching them play like nothing else. When things weren't perfect, I was always sure Jerry Buss and West/Kupchak would repair the problems, and most of all, I felts so reassured that the guy spending the money on the team was really a BIG fan of the Lakers, one of the biggest fans.

We've had many legends playing, coaching, broadcasting, trading, etc, but Jerry Buss might be the most important man in Lakers history. He is that big for this franchise.

I wish I could just say thank you, thank you for absolutely everything.

It is inevitable but does not make it any easier as a Laker fan.
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.
