Jodie Meeks Discussion: career high 42 for OKC (81)

He pretty consistently has disappeared after the all star break, and is yanked out of the rotation... had the same problems in Philly and last season. Hopefully there's some kind of a change this year.

BDG must have been yelling at him again last night. :man1:
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

I think he's flourishing in that bench role where he plays around 20 minutes. Just keep it that way

Jodie has been balling these last few games. I hope he keeps it up.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

I agree. He should not start, but he needs certain number of minutes to start feeling confident, like most shooters. It was the same with Sasha.

Apparently not improved enough to bump his thread after a great game last night. BUMP

10-16 and 25 points in 37 minutes, with a number of them coming from his new take it to the hole, have to play me honest this year, expanded repertoire. And balls out hustle as always a constant. Really enjoying Jodie most nights. Different player this year. Worked hard on his game. :jam2:

Not only is he shooting the ball effectively right now, but he might be our best cutter at the moment and he's finishing effectively.

If he plays this way consistently, I'd give him another contract this summer.

He's really reminding me of Sasha's progress more and more... except that he jumps higher and is generally quicker, while Sasha had vastly superior handles. Meeks is really good right now, but his ballhandling is pretty bad for a guard. I'm not even sure how that is possible. I'd rather watch Gasol dribble.

His ball handling ain't that bad and is getting better and don't know about Sasha having "vastly" superior handles compared to where Jodie is now after working hard at it. But just off the cuff from memory. Not betting $100 or anything….. :man1: :man10:

Jodie Meeks is playing much better than expected this year. He always played hard but the results weren't there last year. This year you can tell he's worked on his game. He's moving without the ball and cutting to the basket a lot more, and his jumper seems more consistent this year.

With Kobe back practicing, time to sell high on Meeks before he struggles coming off the bench again.

I thought there were talks of kobe playing the 3?

Blake/Farmar
Meeks/Young
Kobe/Johnson
Hill/Williams
Gasol/Kaman

I personally haven't posted about Meeks recently because I've been so shocked by his consistently good play I'm almost speechless. That and I almost don't want to jinx it or something.

That would be perfect and awesome if that was indeed the lineup when Kobe comes back

I bet MDA moves Johnson down to the PF spot and kicks Williams out of the lineup, so Henry gets minutes at the 2 or 3. Or Hill, you know, because that's something MDA would do.

Getting Henry some more time is a good thing. If it comes at the expense of Williams or Johnson it's even better.

Williams has been horrible and Johnson makes one spectacular play a game and stands at the 3 point line the rest of the time. Henry at least can put pressure on a defense, move without the ball and dribble..... you know... the fundamental things.

^^ Agree with this. I don't mind developing Johnson at 3 either. I actually want to see both with the starters - Henry at 2.

Meeks has been a pleasant surprise. He's not the most fluid guy with the ball but he's effective this year creating his own shot. Something I didnt' think was in him. He's still having some trouble finishing at the rim but anything over 50% is a marked improvement for him. It seemed that he didn't make one layup last year.
