Jodie Meeks: signs with Pistons-3 yr / 19mil!?!? = cya

I continue to be blown away by his play and in fear of jinxing it. :man10: 13 ppg on 52.6% shooting, and he's improved from being strictly a stand still shooter. If he can even partially keep this up I'll be happy.

Meeks
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Gotta admit, he's changed my mind 150% from the start of the season till now.

Remember when everyone just wanted to cut him? :man10:

he worked very hard over the summer you can tell. but also it helps that he has a solidified role with the same players around him so hes in a good rhythm. he is playing like the catch and shoot guy we wanted last year and also worked on his off dribble game. finishing well, cutting well, pump fake dribble pull up mid range is working for him, playing decent D. i liked us signing him last year but i feel with all the lineup changes and rotations he never found a role but with farmar and blake playing with him along with either young or X hes really gotten in a good groove and others are looking for him. i hope he cont his 50% from downtown and very high % at the rim. itll be huge for us and i hope kobe coming back doesnt change his role for this team which is huge. hes earned a major role on this roster and his hard work has shown.hope dan sees that and values it

props to him for having this type of season thus far but I dont trust streak shooters in the long term. Him and Blake trade value couldn't be any higher at the moment, take advantage of it while we still can and both being expiring could net you something nice from a contending team.

I was thinking about that too. But two things stand out to me. 1)It looks like he actually tried to build on his game. Improved ability to get to the rim, push the ball on fast breaks to finish, and actually HIT his shots from deep. And 2) he has a much larger role in the offense.

So although part of him is playing for a contract I think there's some credit in saying he worked on his game and now he's getting the minutes to showcase the improvement.

I think he has potential to be a 6th man of sorts, when Kobe comes back.

As I said in another thread -- M33ks should continue playing the 2 with Swaggy (they deserve it), Kobe should move to the 3, backed up by Wes. That's our best rotation right now, and Kobe knows how to play the SF. He probably doesn't care much whether it's 2 or 3... at this point in his career he needs to do the damage in the post.

In this way our rotation is 10 guys, all getting minutes... and we're deep. This helps Kobe as well. MDA has shown that he can adapt and he's willing to play longer rotation when he has quality bench. And now he has one of the best benches in the league, at least scoring-wise.

I don't like the idea of Kobe guarding 3's coming back from a torn achilles. It will be hard enough for him to guard 2's.

Unfortunately, even if Kobe was cool with this....it would take 2-4 weeks of playing with rotations until Mike settles on it. This would be despite the Blake/Meeks/Kobe/Hill/Pau starting lineup being more productive than any other lineup.

He's going to be bad guarding anyone, regardless of the position. But SF makes sense with the current rotation and how the guys are performing. Meeks and Young are producing well right now, it's a pity to break that up, because they don't need help. And Young performs better as a SG off the bench, which is pretty obvious.

On the other hand, Wes does need help at the 3, where Kobe can now start -- and the team is balanced, deep and has a star closer.

Title change to MIP is a bit premature IMHO.... he may be in second place for that award just on the Lakers alone. Hill has found long forgotten offensive game and his offensive rebounding acumen is the best I've seen since the worm retired.

Meeks has gone from total garbage to Kyle Korver with athleticism....

lets see if he can keep it up but he has been lights out so far...50% from threes...crazy.

What a 180 from this guy. Give him a one year contract with a team option again and let's see if he can keep this up.
