Jodie Meeks Discussion: Defensive Liability

This guy needs to play at least 20 minutes a game. He can play the 2, 3 and a little bit of 1 (he doesnt turn the ball over). Hes basically there for defense and 3 point relief. He can do an adequate job at all 3 spot. Time to set him loose

He didn't look great last night, missed a lot of shots, but at the same time I like his energy out there. He gets his shot off quick, he fights hard constantly to get open as a spot up shooter should, he doesn't try to do to much with the ball and usually gets rid of it quick knowing his role, and I don't think his defense is bad at all.

if we get Phil and run the triangle Kobe is gunna play a lot of 3 to be closer to the basket and I think it would really help if Meeks played the 2 with Nash Kobe Pau and Dwight. maybe Jamison instead of Pau in that lineup.

This is a concern of mine. Too many people on our team NEED to be close to the basket. MWP's only effective area to score is in the post. Kobe plays best in or near the paint. Howard doesn't play outside of the paint and Pau....... well Pau.....

We need to find some balance. Kobe as the SF with Meeks as the SG to start the games might be a great solution. That puts shooters at the SF and SG.... and Nash when he's not facilitating. That's the most balanced team we can field right now.

I think a lineup of Nash/Meeks/Kobe/Jamison/D12 would do wonders, especially when Meeks/Jamison get back to their pre-Laker ways of doing what they do best shooting and scoring.

if anyone can see that it's Phil. no doubt he's seen Jamison over the years so hell know what he needs and I'm sure he knows what Meeks needs which is time to get into a rhythm. with that lineup
hell get plenty of open shots esp with Nash.

No doubt Phil will use that lineup...if we get him. and if it's dantoni I think he'd still use that as Kobe and Meeks is kind of like playing bell and Barbosa together

Our bench isn't awesome, but cool thing is we don't really need one in the playoffs. Remember back to the 09 PS.

Kobe, Pau, Lamar, and Ariza

These were the four players who did almost all the damage for us, everyone else was sucking it up except for one or two games where they shined.

I can' believe what everybody is saying (so called experts) this is probably the best bench in years ... if Brown misused it then that's another problem ... but there are 5 solid guys on that bench (Hill, Blake, Meeks, Jamison, Ebanks)

Phil knows from the odom at sf experience that jamison can't play at sf.Also phil was using sasha and kobe together so we can see that with meeks and kobe too.

^^ I would LOVE to see this lineup. I'd love to see Meeks play with the starters at times and move Kobe to 3. Not for long stretches as it will wear Kobe out, but as an alternative lineup it would be really fun to see. High octane offense! Not in terms of uptempo, but rather just flat out fire power.

I think Phil will really help Meeks out by playing him consistently and a good amount of minutes while Kobe's resting.

Playing with Phil will really benefit Meeks' career. I want him to get better...the guy shoots 3's so well and is a 90% FT shooter. I hope Phil helps him add more to his game and get the line more. We've seen flashes when no one was listening to Mike Brown.

I'm still confused about all the praise Meeks has been getting. He hasn't proven a thing yet. Overall he's played rather poorly. He scored a few points in garbage time against Golden State and people get excited? Well at least you guys can't blame Mike Brown anymore for him not playing well. Hopefully he picks up his play cause we really need him to hit his outside shots.

Meeks is a shooter. He needs consistent playing time to get into a rhythm. Clown wasn't giving him a single minute to play

it's not what he's done for us so far but what he's done before he got here and what he can do. if it wasn't for mike brown he would have something for us to praise. his shot will start to fall once he shakes of that rust and will be a big part of our bench. it's like hating on Jamison when he hasn't really gotten going yet not had the chance too under mike browns restrictive offense

i had the chance to see meeks play for philly a few times last year (fantasy bball ) and he can play. he may be a bit streaky, but he's better than he's been for us. i'm calling this post-brown stress syndrome.

Hes taking shots you want him to take. Like Stu said hes getting tapped on his shots, theyre just rimming out. He'll get into a groove soon with consistent playing time. His defense was solid
