Jodie is going to be a big help to this bench. I can't wait for him to show some people here what he has the ability to do.

Think he could play point guard? I remember when he played for UK he'd play point when John Wall wasn't in.

All he has to do is defend well, walk the ball up the court, and then dump it into whichever starting big is in at the moment.

He's a good man defender, but it appears he'll get the backup SG minutes while Blake will most likely backup Nash.

All we can hope for now is that he doesn't lose his shooting touch the moment he gets here. It really should be impossible since EVERYONE plays better with Nash and then throw Howard into the mix and there is no reason he shouldn't be getting great looks. Honestly even Artest should turn into a 36-37% 3 pt shooter. From 06-11 he shot 37.2% from 3 while attempting nearly four of them a game. Very good shooting numbers so I want to believe last season was just a fluke from the lockout and he'll be back to form.

I was gonna say, judging from the videos, the dude has a super sweet stroke. Mitch is a genius going for him instead of JRich's expensive contract.

I noticed that too. But when I compared their stats, Meeks wasn't even close. Let's hope that he can improve his accuracy and become the next Ray Allen here in LA. I'd think he get a lot more open looks with this team than he did in Philly, but I could be wrong because I didn't watch much 76ers ball last year.

The Los Angeles Times reports Jodie Meeks will sign his two-year, $3 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday after he takes his physical.
Meeks was sought by a bunch of teams, but the trade for Dwight Howard made the difference says his agent.

"For a team like the Lakers, the ability to hit an open three is crucial," said David Bauman. "The Dwight deal definitely put the scale in favor of the Lakers. There was no question at that point."

-- Nick Borges

Getting D12, ultimately led to us getting Meeks. Very nice.

So Meeks said Lakers were acceptable because of Dwight, Jamison came because with the adquisition of Nash saw us as a valid contender, Dwight likely began liking the Lakers idea again because of Nash and Nash came because of Kobe's recruitment....

^^^^ I'm sure his % will improve with the talent he is surrounded by on the Lakers squad .... plus a career 37% from 3 isn't bad

yea its not bad but I can't really use that as the factor when its only 3 yrs so far. I'm glad we have backup 2 for sure though, tired of seeing Casper out there

Philly fan told me the guy isn't really good at creating his own shot and that's mainly where his FG% goes down, but that he's great when open. Also, he said he isn't really a great defender but he does put a lot of effort on defense.

That's fine, we currently have multiple players who can create their own shot. As long as he hits the open shot I'm more than happy.

Clipper bench includes Billups, Odom, Grant Hill, Jamal Crawford.

There is pretty much a zero chance we have the best bench. SA is like 10 guys deep, Denver is like 10 guys deep etc...

the Lakers really only have Jamison and Hill as solid backups. The rest is just unproven or over the hill.

The Clippers have gold in Billups and Crawford should be great for them. Hill will be a nice player for them defensively and who knows what they'll get from Odom. There's a chance that bench doesn't produce as well as it looks on paper.

The only major hole our bench has is defense. But as long as Meeks and Jamison can score and the bench trades baskets with the opposition while the starters rest, that's all that should be required. At least we have some slashers and shooters on the bench now, something we didn't have last year - we shouldn't be averaging 21 points per game from our bench anymore. Inject a couple starters into the mix and there should be no worries at all. People are looking at our bench with the idea that all 5 will be on the floor at the same time - which will rarely happen.

Can't wait for the season to start, and praying to the injury gods as much as I can.

If Andrew Goudelock can create his own shot with last year's team, I think this guy won't have too much trouble creating a shot with this one.

Not to mention, he won't really have to create his own shot here.

So Meeks was considering the Wizzards or Bobcats but the Dwight Howard trade meant he would have a better chance to win here...? lol, kind of made no sense.
