^^ Pretty true, especially regarding his D tonight. Bad. But he really does need to start making some shots. It's been a few games now that his shooting has been sucking.

10/36 from 3 in the last five games ... he can't go on cold streaks like this one ( unfortunately he's that streaky since the beginning of his career).

We need to get a more consistent shooter at the deadline

so basically, trade meeks to get another 3pt shooting specialist, and then when that guy goes on a slump, trade him for another?


i dont know what makes you guys think trading for another 3pt shooter is going to help, shooters go through slumps, they just need to work through it.

if we can get a shooter/slasher/driver/defender thats one thing, but trade for another strictly 3pt specialist? no. let him get over it and we'll be fine.

but if it not falling he does need to contribute in other ways.

He's streakier than your average shooter ... he has to shoot better with the type of players he's surrounded by and the type of looks he's getting ...


I like his overall energy and his effort on D but he's no stopper on this end of the world , if he doesn't hit his 3s he's useless ...

The "getting another shooter" part was more overreaction and being pissed off we can't find a solid 40-42% ish 3pts sniper for years more than anything else

Meeks will be fine. I'm really not that worried about him. I think what I got from your comment is that we need another shooter but not necessarily in lieu of Meeks. And I agree. I'm not sure who that player would be, but, the more shooters you have, the more likely at least one of them will be hot when we need them to be.

Give me Goudelock back! (At least for now). I really think he could flourish as a poor man's Nate Robinson.

I checked last year's stats, and his "cold streaks" don't happen very often.

He only had one bad streak near the end of the (condensed) season where he went 1 for 19 (yikes!). But other than that he's usually never cold for longer than 2 games in a row.

This is what happens when you only have one sharpshooter (besides Nash who really needs to shoot more) on your team. You're screwed when he's off.

I also think Meeks will be fine. But I am thinking as you guys are that we need one other guy who can shoot from the wing. Right now Ebanks is wasted space. I'd love to see a backup 3 who can knock down shots and play some D.

Ideally that guy would have been Pietrus. I think we really missed out by not going for him. But I think we need to make some kind of move for a good shooter at the deadline as we have a bunch of guys who just aren't playing right now.

I also think Jamison needs to be given some minutes again. He was brought here to bring some scoring, and I think he can provide that. I don't understand why Morris is in the starting lineup and why Jamison isn't getting minutes. Those two things are a little mind boggling.

Agree. I have no problem with his game. Anyone who thinks he's gonna make every shot is unrealistic. he's taking the shots the coach wants him to take. I also like the effort he's giving on defense.

Dude has just hit a little slump. I'm not worried about him.

^ I'm worried, his shot is very inconsistent, and half the time it seems like he doesn't know when to shoot it or not, sometimes even shooting a rushed one. But i hope i'm overreacting since it's Nash's 3rd game back..hopefully Nash finds him in his sweet spots again.

He's missing because he's expending so much energy doing everything else. If he focuses mostly on setting up for 3's then he'd be more consistent.

Why is he doing everything else? Because this team is not well matched to this coach. So players are doing things they are not good at. Meeks driving to the basket, Pau shooting 3's, MWP having to play uptempo, etc. etc.

I'm a little worried. How can we be sure this is a slump? Maybe the hot shooting earlier in the month was an aberration. We haven't had him long enough to know. Obviously he's not going to be THIS bad and he will improve, but he's showing us that he is very streaky and he's now back to his average of around 37%. That's good, but for a player who is exclusively a 3-point specialist and on an offense that will get him plenty of open looks, he should be doing better.

Hopefully this is just a small slump though, and hopefully getting used to playing alongside Nash will allow him to become a consistent 40% 3-point shooter. If not, let's just hope we're lucky enough to avoid these cold streaks during the playoffs.

he shoots well and our winning chances, even with terrible d, go way up. really hope he plays well against portland. we'll need it big time. d on lillard do is a must bc LA will kill our bigs

Meeks is a streak shooter.... he always has been from what I understand. He'll go on a tear soon enough but it will be followed by another slump. Very few deep shooters are consistent on every night outside of Ray Allen and Reggie Miller...

He's looking better and more comfortable in the other facets of his game to me even if he isn't hitting the J's right now. Still don't want him handling the ball much however.

just glad we have some one with guts and balls to come off the bench and be aggressive other than metta now. we need that. hope his shot comes but im glad weve seen what he can do on both ends of the floor.

wow you guys are way to optomisstic bout this guy, he got benched in Philly for this exact same type of slump to end the season last year and basically didn't get to play much at all during the playoffs.

We'll see ... I still maintain he shouldn't shoot a lower/same percentage than Kobe and Metta on threes considering the respective degrees of difficulty of these shots ...

Some of those were garbage time too, for the majority of the game and when the game was already over he was 3/4 on threes.

3pt shooters will be streaky at times. Meeks is really just a shooter. What is missing is Ebanks/Clark are taking up bench space. The team needs an athletic wing player that can play SG/SF and be productive. Especially with MWP playing PF more which I actually applaud. More and more teams are going small with guys like Melo & Lebron spending time at PF and MWP is in that same mold. If the team had another good SF it would make more sense. To be honest I would probably be starting Ebanks instead of Morris but Ebanks has mostly been useless so far.

Join the crowd. That seems to be lacking. I mentioned in another thread a Jeff Green would be perfect for this team. He plays the 3/4 but would be an ideal backup. Big enough to guard the Durant's Lebron's Carmelo's, shoot the three, post up, etc. Additionally, he can play a stretch 4. Pipe dream, though...

Theres no shortage of effort from this guy. Thats a huge plus. I know hes on a cold streak but he'll snap out

Jeff Green sucks. He wasn't anything special before the heart surgery, and now, he just sucks. He has a bad contract too so getting him isn't a pipe dream for us. It's a pipe dream for the Celtics to get rid of him.

ya other than meaningless "chuck up the ball" garbage time meeks was 3/4 from 3 including that amazing hustle play after getting blocked.

really good game even if the box score says otherwise.
