He's looking better and more comfortable in the other facets of his game to me even if he isn't hitting the J's right now. Still don't want him handling the ball much however.

I'm interested in your thoughts (as well as everyone else) on the definition of a "consistent" 3 point shooter. As great a deep threat as Allen and Miller are, they still have off nights and from that, I would never put consistent for a deep threat specialist.

I would not call Allen consistent. One of the greats, for sure, but look at his last 3 games:

0-1
2-7
1-5

Otherwise, he's shooting over 40%.

That's why, IMO, I'm very hesitant to say that there are consistent, 3 point shooters. Sometimes, they go in, sometimes, they don't and that's what the team has to live by.

Meeks believes that the Lakers will be fine, mostly because of their leader. "I heard a lot of things about playing with Kobe [Bryant], and a lot of them were bad," Meeks said. "But it turns out that most of that stuff must have been made up. He's been a mentor to me. He works hard every day. He's the ultimate pro." Philadelphia Inquirer

awful just awful game...i could forgive him missing so many 3s...but i cant forgive him being so pathetic at the fast break or when ever he attacks the rim...its usualy brick...he rarely draws the fouls...its like watching old fisher playing again...so just pass the rock and stick to shooting...

Yeah Meeks will be fine , he's just streaky I was told ... dude is missing so many wide open looks you would think it's Ronnie Brewer or Tony Allen whose shooting

Is this normal for shooters? He hasn't hit anything out there for a while now, and it's killing us.

ice cold. still stays on floor bc of effort. Pau should learn something from him even though Pau still stays on the floor bc hes a "star"

dont like meeks missing that many wide open 3's he could have easily started the game 3/3 from downtown but every shot rimmed out. guys gotta get it together asap.

he's starting to give me that "fake hustle" feeling like I got from Sasha, looks like he's trying hard but don't actually accomplish much defensively and his shot selection is piss poor a lot of the time.

I never thought Sasha "fake hustled". I think he hustled, but it just was never good enough.

I'm not getting that from Meeks yet. He's still able to play passing lanes occasionally. His shot isn't falling though and he's still trying to put the ball on the floor too often.

Good analysis of his game.

We need him to spread the floor, but his shot is ICE cold.

So he tries to drive the hoop, only to realize a few dribbles in that he isnt very good at that.

I feel for the kid as I can tell he's trying, but he is murdering us out there.

Unfortunately it was telling last night that he played only 6 minutes and we were pretty successful. He's a perfect fit for D'Antoni's system, but at the same time he's a perfect example of why D'Antoni's system can fail. Quick shots are quick rebounds are quick possessions for the opposition. Jodie is good at quick shots, but that means we give up more points than we get.

He needs to keep shooting, but not necessarily the way he has been shooting. More shots in the half court used as spacing for our bigs. Less shots in transition or semi-transition with a hand in his face.

thats what I meant by "fake hustle" effort is there just no tangible results. Meeks isn't able to guard his guy most of the time but unfortunately thats a result of 2 things to me, #1 he is undersize 2 which directly results in getting mis match more often then not against bigger/stronger players #2 he also gets beat off the dribble as well.

Hm... I think his biggest problem is the first one. He's short and his arms aren't very long. He can't defend the modern day two guards all that well.

That being said, as long as we put him on a guy that's not necessarily a scorer, it's no big deal. The problem with that is we need to put Nash in that position. For instance last night, it would have been nice to put one of those two on Green or Jackson since San Antonio had Parker and Ginobili in. That leaves one of them defending a good perimeter player which puts us in a tough spot.

One thing that would help Jodie's game is to just slow down, take a pump fake and then shoot the midrange. Sometimes he's like a chicken with his head cut off out there.

he'll play more against okc defending martin with Morris on Westbrook.

they'll both get owned. hope he makes up for it to go 3 for 3 with Martin that'd be the best defense he could do negating every 3 lol
