Any Dwight trade will clearly not happen until at least mid-late August. There's no way we wait that long to try to add another swingman to our bench. We can't afford to.

Players like Meeks will have signed in Russia or Spain by then.

no, I said its not a good idea defensively and 2ndly it would rarely happen since Nash should sit before Kobe does. Where is this notion that Meeks is a good defender from? I never heard anyone say he was a good defender and at 6 4" he's just gona get abused like Blake did. Again I never said I was against this signing, I just said he wouldn't get open if Blake is his counterpart guard.

He would be good for our bench, but no -- he's not a good defender. Not even close.

He shot 2.9/7.1 (40.9%) from the field last season and 1.4/4.0 (36.5%) from deep. Taking that a bit deeper:
- He shot his worst percentage from just inside the 3-Point line at 32.4%; unfortunately that's were his 3rd most shot attempts came from.
- He shot his best percentage around the rim at 61.7%, the good news is that this was his 2nd most prefered shot destination, a sign that he is also willing to attack.
- He shot 42.3% from 3-9 feet and 44.4% from 10-15 feet, but shot only 26 and 36 shots from those spots respectively, which are his two lowest totals by far (the next closest was 16-3pt line with 71 attempts).
- All that being said, he shot easily the most from outside where he was fairly successful (100/279 for 35.8%).
- He shot 408 jumpshots compared to only 85 dunks or layups (5 dunks on the season).

He may not be a creator, but he seems to be able to get to the basket enough because of the respect people have for his jump shot.

To super simplify: is he better than Ebanks or not?

Essentially, whomever is brought in as the 3rd wing will have to be better than Ebay, or don't waste the time.

I would rather have Rush, but either one is far better than what the Lakers have on the bench.

Of course, we would rather have Rush, but that's extremely unlikely given his contract situation in how Warriors can match any offer and we just signed the one player that could have been used to do a sign and trade with him in Jordan Hill.

For some reason all these 3 point specialist don't work on the Lakers.

i never said he was a good defender. you wanted the good defender, so i asked you to show me who we could get who could defend, shoot the 3, and was cheap and would provide the better alternative to meeks

we need scoring off the bench. no matter who's on our bench chances are their defense would suck. so why not get a young guy who can score? we got jaminson...now we need a guard who can score, and both of them can take the scoring load for the bench unit.

Nash/Nate
Kobe/Meeks
MWP/Ebanks
Pau/Jaminson
Drew/Hill

seems like a pretty nice offensive bench to me. come in and spark the offense.

No on Nate Robinson. Every 10th game he goes off, but the other 9 he is a black hole on offense and a complete liability on defense. He also cannot backup SG which is where the Lakers are thinnest currently. Plus I have never seem him as a catch/shoot player and the offense would dictate the best fits are catch/shoot players.

100% what this man said, just say no to Robinson.
