Nice to see him bounce back, you can tell he's not happy with how he's been playing. Feels like if he can catch the ball with enough space, doesn't hesitate, and can cleanly go through his shooting motion, you expect the ball to swish through more often than not.

Meeks over the last few games have been trigger shy. He needs to catch and explode for that J. Tonight he looked like he was ready and willing to shoot the ball. Great energy. Nice game.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Just shoot the ball and don't worry about it.

I've been impressed with Jody's athleticism in general and his explosiveness around the rim this year.

Well he will definitely be increasing his minutes now that Kobe is out for an extended period of time.

Apparently Kobe is Meeks kryptonite. Whether it's that he gets less minutes to put up numbers with Kobe or his role is lessened or both, he's a different guy when Kobe is out.

^^^^ some (most) players are better when moving with and without the ball and touching the ball on a regular basis than camping in a corner and waiting forever for opportunities to be created by the high PNR ... more opporntunities in the open floor without Kobe too

Jodie played some solid D on Martin ... didn't bite on his offensive flops

I don't how accurate this is, but if it was on the table, we should pull the trigger on this deal.

Grizzlies Propose Bayless-Meeks Deal To Lakers
December 24 at 1:15pm CST By Chuck Myron
The Grizzlies are “clearly looking to shake up their roster,” writes Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher, who hears from a Lakers source that Memphis offered Jerryd Bayless in return for Jodie Meeks. Such a trade wouldn’t work under the NBA’s salary-matching rules, which would require the Lakers to put additional outgoing salary into the deal to come closer to the $3.135MM Bayless makes this season. Still, the proposal appears to indicate changes could be on the way for the disappointing 12-15 Grizzlies.

Memphis has added James Johnson and Seth Curry in recent days to bolster an injury-depleted roster that’s enduring the long-term absences of Marc Gasol and Quincy Pondexter. It appears the Grizzlies have no interest in a rumored trade that would send Zach Randolph to the Pelicans, Bucher says, though a report yesterday indicated that Memphis might be willing to move Randolph for the right offer.

The Lakers have had their own share of injury troubles, particularly among their point guards, and adding Bayless would help them shore up that position. He’s also a free agent after this season, so he wouldn’t clog up L.A.’s cap space this summer. Still, it doesn’t sound as though the Grizzlies’ proposal has gained any traction

I know Bayless has his struggles, but I'd still love to do that deal. Who would be thrown in to make that deal work though?

I have no idea, maybe throw in Marshall or Williams? 3 team trade, bigger trade between the two teams?

I'm doing this trade based on the fact that at some point Kobe is going to come back and when that point comes Meeks is going to go back to the Meeks that nobody wants.

Bayless can at least play PG and it would give us an option of bringing him and Farmar back next year for our PG's. Not great, but we have too many holes to fill to worry about getting top class players at every position.

Nice try Grizz but no ...

I'd rather have a shot to bring Meeks back for cheap at the SG backup than Bayless at the point for next season .

No need to make lateral moves for a PG because our current lack at this position .. anyways Bayless is a scorer 1st PG

Farmar off the bench will be fine for next season

Lateral move at best.. I'll pass.. I'd rather see Meeks packaged with Kaman or something like that for an actual impact player.. But I do feel like he needs to be traded before Kobe gets back. If Bayless was on a 1-2M deal that went beyond this season it would make more sense. He's not worth 3.1M & if that's what it would take to bring him back next season, I want no part of that.

Have you guys seen Bayless play lately? The guy can't hit anything. He shoots 3s under 30%. I think he shoots under 40% from the floor in general. What exactly are we getting here? Someone who can handle the ball? Why? We can wait this year and try to get a much better, starter caliber PG in the offseason and re-sign Farmar as well.

Meeks can shoot lights out and he's much cheaper then Bayless. I don't get it.

The worst part is it didn't even look like he tried.. Looked like he was still pouting from not getting the call on the fast break layup where he should have passed to a trailer knowing that he's already blown 3 layups earlier in the game.

A rather forgettable game for Meeks; When he puts his head down and goes to the rim, it's usually not a good thing....

I noticed that Meeks has played more minutes than any other Laker this season. That's a problem in itself. He's not starting material.

Hell our whole starting lineup is not starting material for the entire year.

Rough game last night. Two of his missed layups turned into 5 POINT SWITCHES!!! That's really, really bad and embarrassing. Now, just for the record I thought he was fouled on both of those plays. But you still need to finish those because if you get the whistle it turns into an and one possibility. He missed three fast break layups altogether and it was not pretty. But the five point switches on two of them . . . ouch. That's a killer. You could make a good argument that those cost us the game, even though the real culprit was that put back at the end.
