Jodie Meeks: signs with Pistons-3 yr / 19mil!?!? = cya

Re: Jodie Meeks Discussion: MIP!

He's too slow for PG's and too undersized for SG's; he lacks basic defensive fundamentals, gets blown by, misses rotations, and his just horrible defensively...heck, that makes up most of our team. No excuse, though...he's expendable in the offseason, IMO.

I find it hard to really beat the kid up for anything...

It's the same reason I'm not mad at Kelly for his defense. He shouldn't be playing this much! They're either not ready to or not good enough to play these kinds of minutes, but we have no other options... Meeks is a 2nd/3rd string type of player. Come in, shoot the ball well, and sit down. That should be his role. He's a good kid with a high motor, he's just honestly not that talented.

why expendable....get VALUE for him NOW. I'd even take a high 2nd pick from lottery team right now. EVERYBODY on this team should be considered trade bait right now if the value is there.

I know a lot of people here don't like Jodie, but I do. He's a good kid and he's a hard worker, he just isn't a 30 mpg kind of guy. He makes a lot of mistakes, but I don't blame him. He shouldn't be in this position anyway.

Even so he's been one of our better players this season (sadly). I hope he recovers soon.

I don't think anyone has ever said that Meeks is not a nice guy or a hard worker. He does what he can, honestly. He should have a bench role in this league -- come in, hit some long range shots and go sit down until your next opportunity. No more, no less. He can be useful in the right situation. But he is asked to do too much here. Although he's not the only one. I mean, we basically expect Young to be Kobe. :man10:

OKC just gave up 83 points to Gerald Green and Jodie Meeks ...

He definetely worked on his offensive game and has had a solid offensive season so far though ...

At the rim 2012-2013 : 51.3%
This season 62.7%

I'm happy for this kid.

He's not really the biggest talent out there (we've got lots of more talented players) but this guy is a hard worker. It's crystal clear that this guy worked really hard last summer, cause his improvement has been incredible. I remember last year he pretty much had only a decent shot and that was it. He was just a shooter, and not a really good one. This year he's a legit scorer.

Great game by Jodie, I was at the game the crowd wanted him shooting every shot and kinda hissed when others shot. everyone was pulling for a 50 point game.

Jodie did indeed "get buckets" today, and he's been having a pretty impressive overall season. It's a contract year, but it makes me wonder if he's actually worth keeping if he can be signed for around 1.5 mil again. He has issues, he hasn't been consistent in the past and his defense isn't great, plus he's often undersized on D at the 2, but he constantly hustles and plays hard. Plus when he gets hot, he can really put up points, he's finishing at the basket incredibly well, he's ridiculously improved from last season there. Basically you need a cheap Kobe backup that is ok with being a role player, it's Meeks, Henry, maybe Young, and some unknowns out there, I'd have to think hard now about keeping Meeks on if it's for cheap. If some team offers him 3 to 5 mil per though because of how he playing, you let him walk IMO.

He seems like a miniMLE player for a team like SA or OKC to me. He's perfect for a team on the verge as a 7th man. Not sure we can keep him cheap and more importantly on a one year contract. He's getting a multi year deal IMO

It's either him or Bazemore to play behind Kobe.

Young and X will play the 3.

As long as MDA is here, Meeks is going to start at the 2 and Kobe will play the 3. If we want to win, that can't happen.
