Jodie Meeks: signs with Pistons-3 yr / 19mil!?!? = cya

This is the first time in consecutive games that I’m, for the most part, going to go with the same rotation or the same group of guys consecutively. I hadn’t done it all preseason, I hadn’t done it so far in the regular season and I need to start doing it. Even if they don’t play well, I need to do it for a few games in a row to see if we can try to get a rhythm."

I'll give him some kudos for sticking with a bench lineup. Even if it's an awful lineup with Morris at the 1.

it was sad to see Meeks staring into space on the bench...while we were up by 30

and seeing Morris running around

We have a young 3 point shooter than can give Kobe rest...and we don't use him, awesome.

That idiot Brown did the same thing to Gibson that he's doing to Meeks now (and did to Goudelock). Cavs fans were complaining because Brown wouldn't ever (or rarely) give Gibson any significant minutes even though Gibson was a great 3pt shooter.

For some reason he hates these smaller guards that can shoot.

His explanation was horrific. He made a mistake, but just for the sake of continuity (at which he sucks btw), he's gonna keep making it. OK.

"right now" is Ebanks, give it a week or so and we'll be complaining bout why Ebanks can't see the floor

I also remember how he wouldn't play JJ Hickson in the playoffs even though he was a solid player for them. This guy is just a joke when it comes to rotations, a complete joke.

Blake/Duhon
Meeks
Ebanks
Jamison
Hill/Sacre

should be our bench rotation, simple as that.

I won't...... unless it's the only way to keep Morris off the floor.

As for Meeks. 23 minutes a game in his career on teams with far better benches than we have.... We sought him out and signed him for a need.... Not much more needs to be said.

Come on guys putting Meeks in there with Nash/Jamison/D12 would be stupid. Why would you want to space the floor for a big man like D12, while at the same time have people be able to light it up from 3?

I don't like that bogus answer. He should just say: "Length".

Seriously now, we saw that Blake at the 2 doesn't work. So, Mitch signed Meeks instead -- a young guy who can not only shoot and help Kobe get some rest, but he can also defend pretty well.

What does Brown do? Play Ebanks at the 2. :bang:
Why? So that Jamison can play some 3.
Why? Because Hill is a "good 4" and this "gives us length".

The fact that Morris, Ebanks and Hill can't stretch the floor for Dwight (or Pau) is seemingly irrelevant.

How does he justify this: Morris/Blake (or Ebanks)/Metta/Hill/Dwight (or Pau)? :man3: This is what he prefers to, say,

Nash (or Blake or Duhon)/Meeks/Ebanks/Jamison/Dwight

In this way you would have a shooter/playmaker, shooter, slasher, shooter, primary scorer in the post. 3 of those players can defend too.

In his rotation, Brown ends up with Morris, who doesn't have a defined role, because he can't really shoot or create, slasher (Ebanks, out of position), defender who is an inconsistent shooter (Metta), hustle guy who can't score efficiently (Hill) and primary post scorer (Dwight). To sum up: bad playmaker/slasher/bad shooter/hustler/primary scorer.

Am I crazy or is he doing it wrong?

Mike Brown wrote:"There’s still not a whole lot of minutes there. There could be a lot of minutes."

...sounds wishy washy to me. Brown should know who is capable of what by now or at least a measure of it. Like pound mentioned, that was the benefit of training camp and a healthy amount of practice availability.

well I didnt mean it as complaining because Meeks is playing and Ebanks wont be, it'll a complaint where the person who Potatoe head is choosing to play sucks and is a detriment to the team but yet still will get PT over Ebanks or Meeks, currently its Morris. I also do no understand why he chooses to play Jamison @ the 3, he isn't a good defender, isn't a good enough shooter...he needs to be @ the back PF with Howard and Hill should play with Pau. But it is Breown, who are we to question, he'll cont. to play our starters long minutes as we face better teams because the bench wont be able to do much on their own.

Erik Spoelstra talks about his "positionless" basketball so Mike Brown sees that and thinks he can usher in an era of "length" basketball.

"metta will be our 6th man" that didnt last....give it a week and ebanks wont perform like meeks can. If meeks is on the floor with Nash, oh man that would be a great thing to see. shooters need time on the court to get into a rhythm. seriously hope he gets serious minutes soon...he was one of the most underrated pick ups this off season.

same....

Sasha, Farmar, Space Cadet.

whenever those 3 shot that 3 ball, I used to be so confident it had a 40-50% chance of going in. Now with Metta...makes me cringe every time he launches it.

on topic:

Mike Brown needs to go, just don't understand why the F did FO go out and get this guy for Brown to let him rot and possibly destroy his confidence. Meeks is hanging in there through 4 games and hasn't shown too much pouting, but I believe if he doesn't see some minutes soon, either Brown is getting fired or Meeks will never be a contributor for our team.

sucks just read a interview on twitter and it seems he's just frustrated. says he can't do anything and it's out of his control and it's miles decision. completely idiotic. what was the point in even bringing him here. I was so excited and metta Ebanks and Blake will all get priority backup SG mins over him and Meeks is the ONLY actual SG on this team other than Kobe.

I'm done with mike brown. I'm beyond fed up. ruining a perfectly good backup SG. ranked #1 spot up shooter in the entire league!!! how can you not play him?! I don't understand...if is D that's dumb bc Kobe will make any one look terrible in practice.
