Jodie Meeks: signs with Pistons-3 yr / 19mil!?!? = cya

Hill might not truly be a C, but I don't think we have any choice but to play him there as we have no other backup C. Pau cannot be the starting PF and backup C, he will be worn out by mid-season, especially after the olympics this summer. I actually do think Hill is a C in today's NBA though, he boards like one, defends like one, and is better around the rim than further out from it.

Pau has been a Starting PF & backup C since he's been here. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I think eventually it HAS to change, especially considering the last 2 playoffs he's been terrible and it has to be partly because he played so many minutes all year long. He's not young anymore, at some point his minutes have to go down.

I want a traditional rotation. EVERY player in our starting lineup has a solid backup at their position.

When Dwight goes out...he should be replaced with Hill, not Pau moving over to C and playing more mins. Gotta save our starting lineup as much as possible. Pau can't be worn out come playoffs AGAIN.

Bc we have Mike Brown i know we'll see a Jaminson/Pau lineup if Dwight gets in foul trouble, which sucks for Pau. We now have a solid bench and i say we use them. no more playing ANYONE all 12 mins of a quarter like Mike did to Drew and Pau many times last season. he now has a SOLID bench and bigs with Jaminson and Hill who can hold their own so he must use them.

unlikely, but i would like a rotation in which everyone plays ONE position and we use the backups to give the starters the rest the need for the long run (except in the playoffs when its a smaller rotation). Mike Brown better not run Nash,Kobe,Pau, & Howard to the ground when we now have solid backups for each of them. our bench is pretty good now so lets use them!

Maybe now Brown won't see the need to play Kobe 40 minutes a night. No excuses for that. He has a legit backup and we should be blowing out most teams during the regular season anyhow.

Mitch's wand still has some juice left. Nabbed Meeks for cheap -- a shooter and defender who's hungry and wants to win. What more could you ask for in a backup guard?

How will the Lakers fill out the rest of their bench?

It's possible the answer lies with Devin Ebanks, Jodie Meeks or both.
Whoever it is, the Lakers hope they can find a backcourt player who could reduce Kobe Bryant's minutes and provide needed outside shooting. Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Meeks could fill that description since the 25-year-old shot in the high 30% range in the past two seasons. Meeks' agent, David Bauman, said Meeks is on the Lakers' radar and that of "four or five" other unspecified teams. But Bauman said Meeks' interest with the Lakers could hinge on a significant variable.

"We're happy to talk, but we're not talking minimum for a guy like Jodie," Bauman told The Times in a phone interview on Monday. "He'll get more than the minimum wherever he signs."

The Lakers have a mini mid-level exception worth $3 million, but General Manager Mitch Kupchak said on July 25 that it's unlikely they'll use it unless there's "credible value." The Lakers were hoping to add players only at the veteran's minimum worth $1.5 million, an option veteran forward Antawn Jamison chose despite making $15.1 million last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Ahhhh, the difference a few days and Dwight trade can make on young fella's outlook.

The boy can play. He's an improvement on our bench, and the upgrades just keep coming. I've seen Jodie Meeks play some games on the NBA package... I like what I see when he's getting minutes.

Jodie Meeks did not sign for the minimum. The minimum for Meeks would be 800,000 which is why he and his agent refused to go that low. Unless the Lakers have some TPE I don't know of, they used part of the mini-MLE to sign him.

Still kinda shocked that more teams weren't going after him.

The fact that we got him for so cheap is an absolute steal.

Before Mitch makes a trade or signs a player he has to make sure that when people hear about the move that this is the first thing they think or say.

Maybe other teams saw the poirous defense he plays. Or him being a volume shooter on a guard oriented 76ers team. I just don't see the hype about this guy. I really hope I'm wrong.
