Lakers select Jordan Clarkson via Washington, sources say.

He was projected first in a lot of mocks

Jonathan Givony ‏@DraftExpress 5m

I was pretty skeptical about the Jordan Clarkson first round hype, and in retrospect it was justified. He's taking quite a tumble here.

NBA Draft.net's comparisons are always a bit too over the top, but they compare him to MCW

Looks decent, good shooter, finisher, passer. Can't see much of defense. Looks more of a SG to me.

Nice, but what'd we give up?
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

Was often mocked first round...hard to complain.

It's a favorable scouting report - ability to score at the rim, mid-range, and had a three-point shot until last year - good FT shooter, tools to be a good defender.

Welcome, JC.

NBA on ESPN ‏@ESPNNBA 7m

The @Lakers have officially acquired the draft rights to Jordan Clarkson from the @WashWizards for financial considerations.

Kristofer Habbas ‏@NBADraftInsider 36s

Julius Randle & Jordan Clarkson give the Lakers two nice athletes to build around. Clarkson could be a huge steal going in the 2nd rd.

Seems like a pretty athletic kid. I'm not against him at all, but uh... why? We've got guys his size who do what he does. Namely we've got Henry and Bazemore already hanging around.

Maybe we know we won't bring them back?

Ben Rosales @brosales12 · 8m

Clarkson's a huge point guard, very athletic, good handles, some thought he'd be a borderline lottery guy very early in the season.

Shane Young @YoungNBA · 2m

For Lakers, Jordan Clarkson went deeper than he was projected. Great pick up in a trade with Wizards.

Maybe cheaper as a 2nd round guy? Glaring cons about this guy though are can't shoot and turnover prone.

He'll be camp fodder tbh. I think Marshall would be the better bet as a backup/3rd string.

I've never heard of him, which is typical of most of our 2nd round picks. I hope this one works out for us.

Clarkson is another great pick. I would have liked DeAndre Kane, but cant complain about Clarkson.

The more competition the better. He's cheaper, if we go with him over X or Baze, even if it's only by a marginal amount -- every penny counts when we're trying to get a marquee FA. Maybe one of our FAs get a better, bigger offer elsewhere. Might not be more money, but better situation...whether it be closer to hope, more playing time, chance at a ring, etc. You can never have too many options, especially when the option is considered a steal where they fell to.

You guys are right. I mean it's not like I'm against him or anything. He seems like he's got some solid attributes and I hope from the best from him. Reminds me a lot of... Darius Morris. :man9:

Rodney Stuckey and MCW are his NBA comparisons .. Also, he got into the paint more than any other point guard after Payton in college .. Not bad, hopefully he pans out
