Jordan Farmar Discussion:Signs with Clippers (31)

Re: Jordan Farmar signs for Vet Min (Laker since birth - pg 9)

I think Blake fits more naturally at the two at this point in his career actually. He's a little to slow for PGs and at 6'4" he's not that undersized really. I think the ball movement and shooting with that second unit should actually be pretty fun.

I agree that if they could trade Blake for, say, Brandon Rush, then yes I think they pull that trigger and insert him behind Kobe. I just am not convinced they find a trade partner for him.

Man, that's some good news, glad this is finally official, in the back of my mind even though I knew it was going to get done that "what if" not kept hanging there. Farmar was one of my favorite Lakers (again, UCLA is my team, his run there in the tournament and that amazing comeback game against Adam Morrison's Gonzaga team is still a great memory for me), I always hoped there was a way he could sign back here someday and this is sooner than I expected, he's still young and has stuff to prove. I hope to see some good things, and yeah, I think he has to be backup PG number one, he didn't leave his overseas team, a bigger contract and have us negotiate a buyout to not play or be 3rd string.

As much as Farmar might've pissed us off at times, he did a lot of great things for this ballclub. Once he left, we sorely missed his athleticism and ability to penetrate & finish at the basket.

Farmar and Shannon's energy and emphatic plays in game 6 of the 2010 Finals were a big part of our blowout that game. They didn't score a lot, only 4 points each, but again, the energy, and the type of plays they had, like that Farmar dunk, got the crowd in a frenzy.

Obviously not likely but I'm just saying I assume they'll keep their ear to the ground. I'm not a huge fan of Blake at the 2 because there aren't that many minutes to be had at the 2 and I don't want Blake taking farmars minutes because we need Jordan's up and down play

I don't see why they would want Blake for Rivers.. Obviously I'd take it for his upside, but I would think they'd be looking for a SF not a backup PG.

He was a frustrating player but he had heart and played hard. He's a Laker and always has been..

I hope his defense is better and his outside shot falls. Can he still penetrate? We need it desperately.. our bench since Farmar/Shannon/Ariza has been atrocious and never drives to the bucket they just keep chucking worse than the Machine in his 3 season drought.

The only positive is that ego ears is an upgrade to Morris...

other than that...he never seemed to enjoy playing with Kobe. He always overestimated his capabilities and thats why he ended up in Turkey...because nobody wanted him.

anyone complaining about farmar is beyond me, dude can ball.

you guys rather want blake who was scared to shoot the 3 for the first 3 years? that doesnt take momentum changing shots?

or morris that ....no explanation needed.

mike brown is a tard, i would of played Glock as an unorthodox scoring PG, but its dumb brown, what more can you expect. so he cant defend 2's, play him at the 1 and tweak your offense, i wouldnt blame his offensive coordinater (former pistons head coach) im pretty sure he was cut to from the team because of "length" and "defense" like we played any that that year.

The only thing Blake does better than Farmar is defense, which isn't saying much. Blake is no Tony Allen.

I don't know why I'm so happy about this signing... it's not like he's the savior for this team, but he gave our bench swagger and identity in that championship run. I'm sure it won't be like it was, but let's hope he can bring something that's been missing and assert himself as a player the team wants to keep long term.

I'm really thinking they're going to try and package Blake with another player, maybe Meeks (since he and Young are pretty similar players) and go after a decent starting SF or maybe a SF/PF combo player and have Young play more at SG. Of course, only for a short term contract or someone that will have decent trade value next summer. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe nothing happens, but it sure seems like Blake and Meeks are expendable now with Farmar and Young being signed, unless they really do see Young playing heavy minutes at SF and SG while Kobe's out.

Cap space is good for next summer, but they might also want to have a couple trade assets to use too.

I think the important thing in all of this is the change of pace it gives our bench. Nash is older, slower, way less athletic, and Farmar provides a different look to our bench and balances our roster out a lot better then it was last year. We need it. It was key during those championship runs...WTS, I'm not expecting anything great, but it is nice to have somebody on the roster that we can depend upon not getting hurt and being healthy for a season heading into the PO's...

Farmar is a front runner as was Shannon. It's what you want from your bench for them to come in with a lead and play loose and expand leads

Since they left we've had guys who were guys who maintained. Their desire was to not make mistakes, play safe and all that ever did was keep the game close or even lose leads because the offense stagnated
