I would absolutely take him for the minimum, there aren't a lot of better PG's out there for the minimum. When he was here he showed he can run the fast break, he can get to the hoop and make layups, he's got speed, and he actually showed he can hit big shots and isn't afraid of big moments. For example, he was one of our better players at hitting buzzer beaters, even from deep. I don't remember his defense being that bad either, I remember a few times he gave Nash a really hard time, blocked his shot and stuff.
He's not a bad defensive player, but Blake is better.
My problem is his attitude. He always wanted a bigger role on the Lakers and he seemed to have an entitled attitude as if he deserved it. I can't stand when a player acts like they're better than they really are.
Blake WAS better, we don't know how Farmar is now, guess a workout or camp invite might help us find out. Also, again, he's older, maybe a bigger role isn't as important to him anymore as being in the league at all and being in LA (home).
I doubt his defense has gotten better after being on a bad NJ team, and being out of the NBA the past few years. If anything I'd expect it to be worse after not having to play against NBA talent night in and night out.
And regarding his attitude, the best Basketball coach in the NBA and playing alongside the best player in the NBA couldn't get his ego and entitled attitude in hand, I don't have any confidence Pringles could do better.
All these hopes of improved defense and attitude, is asking Farmar to show a level of self improvement, soul searching, and dedication I never saw from him in the 4 years he was here. I don't see why any of us should expect this from him when he's never shown it before.
