My guess is the Turkish team is in no hurry to let him go, and like real said, is trying to squeeze the most money from the Lakers. On our side, the season isn't until October, training camp isn't until September, so it's probably no big hurry to overpay to buy him out. On the other hand, I would hate to see this hit a serious snag and not happen, especially after Farmar being excited to come here, expecting him to be on our team, and his recruiting of Nick Young. Time Warner Cable is paying the Lakers billions to put the best team out there, they better not get stingy over thousands here, especially after cutting Metta.

I get the feeling the Lakers will do what it takes, they're just not going to rush and jump through hoops to do it.

When it comes down to it, I'm pretty sure they'll just make the call when they have to.

I think they'll get it done. It is taking longer then I would have hoped for, though. We need at least one healthy guard we can expect to play most of the season with major injury. The two Steve's can be depended upon to be healthy an 82-game season; that isn't happening.

This shouldve been simple. Supposed $500k buyout clause in the contract, nba team can pitch in up to $500k and doesn't count against them (cap, tax wise). I wonder if there were other perks like sign bonus, housing, transport etc which must be dealt with to reimbuse or something for breaking the contract?

There was no breaking of the contract. That contract has an opt out clause each offseason should Jordy return to the NBA.

I hope there is no snag... I thought the demise of the team started when Jordan left. No more stretching of the lead by the bench led by Farmar. When we lost that our team became ordinary.

We're going to actually have some depth this season. Considering how injury prone the Steves are, getting Jordan is huge for us. If we were going to trot Darius Morris back out as point guard again next season, someone was going to die.

I think this signals the move for Blake to the 2 guard position. There is no way he came back here to be a 3rd string, might not even dress, backup to the backup.

1.) He left some serious caysh overseas.
2.) He's coming back to the team he left because his role wasn't big enough
3.) The Lakers wouldn't buy him out from his team to ride the pine.

Given that he performs at the level we know he can, I think he's the backup PG heading into the season.

Glad that's finally done.. Now if we could just get LO to sign..

@Doc Brown I agree that we'll probably see a lot of Blake at SG.. He's not really a good fit for this team at PG anymore. But he can still do better as the backup SG than Meeks. I only want to see Blake getting minutes at PG if Farmar isn't what we expected or we're dealing with injuries. Although if we sign another good wing or 2, Blake might be best warming the end of the bench next to Meeks & Sacre.

I wonder, now Jordan is back. Is Steve Blake gonna be traded or he stays and D'Antoni is gonna have Blake SG off the bench like he did with Leandro Barbosa with this run and gun offense?

Blake will be the SG for sure at this point. Bring in CDR and a PF and this is our team next season:

Nash/Farmar
Bryant/Blake/Meeks
Young/Johnson/Douglas-Roberts
Hill/PF/Kelly
Gasol/Kaman/Sacre

That's definitely what we're rolling with and it's definitely not bad once everyone heals up. I'd rather have a real backup 2 and of course whoever that PF is will definitely be important, but I like that team. I'll find it easy to root for them.

i think it's likelier that blake is traded for a PF or wing on a 1 year deal. if possible i'd keep meeks just for depth but if impossible i'd trade blake and meeks

maybe something like blake and meeks for marvin williams

or trade him straight to portland for nothing, maybe a 2nd rounder, possibly a 1st( lol ya right) as cap relief

or maybe call up the good ol pelicans and see if they'd be open to a meeks and blake for austin rivers type thing. obviously a longshot and he has salary past this season but he's still cheap and you could probably trade him easily next offseason anyways if necessary

or maybe blake and meeks for quincy pondexter. obviously another longshot

but these are all deals involving 1 year guys except for austin rivers. if none of that is available i guess you can play him at SG

I initially thought the same thing, but after hearing what Farmar said about D'Antoni running multiple guard lineups, I just don't think they'll trade away Jordan.

And with the signing of Wesley Johnson I don't see the need honestly. They're looking to add Douglas-Roberts who's got a great in already with the franchise and that'll be our finals 2/3.

You are probably right, however I do think they'll ask around. You just never know who's available and they might grab someone unexpected like an Austin rivers

Obviously not likely but I'm just saying I assume they'll keep their ear to the ground. I'm not a huge fan of Blake at the 2 because there aren't that many minutes to be had at the 2 and I don't want Blake taking farmars minutes because we need Jordan's up and down play
