Was just about to post this.

If the Lakers can trade Blake for a pick... they'd do it in a heartbeat. Even if it's a 2nd rounder.

Save them from being luxury repeaters next season.

Wait what? Every report from everyone says that Farmar isn't leaving the international money on the table.

Most said he wasn't even in the mix to sign here.

I'm going to need more and better information than this.

Nice if Farmar is back....dude can play a little, up tempo burn too

Hmmm, wonder if Lakers could possibly look to trade Blake + Hill to somehow net Williams (and maybe Ridnour) from T-Wolves? Derrick Williams is a guy I would love to have on the Lakers at SF. I love J-Hill as a player, but MDA might not play him anyway

Idea being bounced on twitter...Blake might get amnestied and this way we dont have to seek out a SF. If you think about it doesnt Metta hold more value than Blake? Hes gritty, can defend multiple positions, I think we might sell high on him at the trade deadline easier than we can for Blake

I wouldn't love that... I think Blake has got to have a little value, right? He'd get snatched up on waivers. I also like him as a person.

Didn't Bresnahan say that they would have to buy him out of his Turkey contract?

I think Lakers put that rumor out there that MWP might get amnestied to test the market and saw he got a lot of interest. There is a huge market value there considering he can play multiple positions for playoff teams.

Interesting

One hurdle: The buyout on J. Farmar's Turkey contract is $500k, according to a league source. It would not count against the cap, however

This is difference between Dwight staying or leaving. If Dwight stays, MWP amnesty saves them about $30M. Now, it would save about $14.355M.

yeah, i don't know what the buyout number is, but if it's 500k, that's not too bad. Bresnahan stated that it was more than the contract amount they wanted to offer him.

Hm.

That makes a lot of sense Rock. I think there's still probably value for Blake though. But amnesty might make the most sense because I don't know that teams would actually give up anything for him. They'd just sign him if they could.

For his Turkish team, Farmar had a 13.8/3.6/3.9 line on .443/.397/.863 shooting in 29.9 minutes per game. #notbad

Wow, that came out of nowhere, I love it. I'm shocked it went down for real though, because I believe it was emplay that was asked if Farmar would/could be brought back just the other day and he said "Farmar is not in the mix". I guess things changed or the Lakers are being sneaky. I would like to see Blake traded now, Farmar is no 3rd stringer, and Blake is not a SG. I hope Sasha and Odom are next.

Re: Lakers Sign Jordan Farmar To Vet Min., Pending Buyout (p. 4)

Postby The Rock on Tue Jul 09, 2013 10:35 pm

Jordan Farmar has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, the veteran guard told ESPNLosAngeles.com Tuesday night.

Farmar, 26, played his first four professional seasons with the Lakers after being drafted in the first round out of UCLA in 2006. He then spent parts of two seasons with the New Jersey Nets before playing last season with Anadolu Efes of the Turkish Basketball League.

The sides agreed to a one-year, veteran minimum deal. L.A. must first negotiate a buyout with Farmar's club in Turkey, in the $500,000 range. The buyout does not count against the salary cap.

Salary: 80.5M
Luxury threshold: 71.748M
Over the threshold by: 8.752M
Luxury paid if no one is amnestied: 12.5M (4.99M x 2.50)+ (3.762M x 2.75) 10.3M = ~22.8M luxury paid.
Luxury paid if Artest (7.7M) is amnestied: 1.052M x 2.50 = ~2.63M luxury paid
Luxury paid if Blake (4M) is amnestied: 4.752M x 2.50 = 11.88M luxury paid

Amnesty tax tiers for reference
1st $0-$4,999,999 X $2.50
next$5,000,000-$9,999,999 X $2.75

If they choose to waive blake over artest... they will be swallowing an extra 9.25M in taxes.

Lol I would love this, no way it happens though, we'd have to trade Ron for him straight up, I believe they both make 7 mil.
